The book is a remarkable tale from a world totally unknown to me. I have never been a soldier and have never held a weapon in my hands. Apart from being mugged twenty years ago by three big guys in Madrid in broad daylight I have never been in a situation where I had to fight for my life (I didn't fight in Madrid as I was ambushed with no time to think).
I liked the book a lot.
The author is not afraid of exposing his weaknesses, which in the end turns out to be his strength. What puzzled me was that also in the army and even in the SAS corps most of your enemies come from within.

The language was challenging for a non-native English reader, but I made it through the book because it was so fascinating.
I have always wondered why anybody (millions of Americans!) voted for Trump. How could anybody see him as a solution to anything?
The book digs deep and shows that the question has many answers. Some of them are rather scarry. The MAGA circus is not over.

I enjoyed reading this book. It is well written and offers valuable insight. Fiona’s remarkable journey from East of the Pennines in the UK to the White House in the US under a Donald Trump. Her description of Trump and the risk he represent is right on the money. It remains to fascinate me how different we can define freedom and democracy. The Nordic model has very little in common with the UK and USA. Still here the probability of realizing the American Dream is much more likely than in the US. Where I live we pay the highest taxes in the world, are among the most happy and were recently found to be the most competitive. That’s s combination many outsiders cannot comprehend....more

That made her world famous and that made her write this book. I am sure she would have preferred a different destiny, but then we wouldn’t have had such an amazing piece of documentary. I enjoyed every page of this well written and honest report about how an introvert (and female) made it to represent the USA in Ukraine. It’s a detailed description of the inner working of the Foreign Service and what it is like to represent the most powerful country in the world. Marie Yovanovich was a talented and professional career diplomat. She was representing the values on which the majority of people all over the world want their society to be based. Values that corrupt regimes do not like. When the US with Trump and his circus (the GOP, Fox News etc.) got a corrupt regime, her job became very difficult....more

Revenue generation has been (and still is) an immensely labor intensive activity in all B2B companies. Marketing automation and CRM solutions have been promising productivity improvements for more than twenty years now, but little has happened. In many companies revenue generation is a black box. We’re delighted when it works and sad when it doesn’t. However we have a hard time telling the reasons for the difference. Those days are over and this book explains why that is the case and what will happen. I agree with the perspective presented but I am not so sure that it will happen so fast. Still, those that embrace the technology available will outperform their competitors and that may move the needle. I am little more skeptical on how it should be implemented and organized. I am not sure revenue generation professionals can be trained to become technical whiz kids. I highly recommend the book to anyone working with revenue generation....more
