For instance, the So gratifying to read, after my own stint as a bookseller at a local B&N store back in the 90s! I had lots of memorable encounters:
For instance, the fellow bookseller who recommended this new kid's book to me as an adult, something that had just come out, all about a character named Harry Potter.
And the countless customers who came in asking, "Do you have that book that was just on the radio? I don't know the author's name or the book title, and I'm not sure what it was about, but I really liked the way he/she talked."
And the sheer number of high schoolers who came in from the surrounding nouveau riche community the night before a paper was due, approached the cash register with a $150 stack's worth of books on their topic (90s-era prices!), and who did NOT return them the next day. Privilege, eh?
Or the coworker, a sweet bookish young woman everyone liked, who was suddenly dragged out of our store in handcuffs as we all stood in stunned shock. The last person you would ever suspect! Apparently her boyfriend lured her into an international credit-card stealing ring, surreptitiously copying customer's info. Management wouldn't supply details about her arrest (afraid we'd learn how?) even as we collectively grieved this incident for weeks. Or tried to figure out how she could possibly have done such a thing. She'd been so excited, telling us all how she was leaving for another country the following week with the love of her life! Yikes. So sad she ruined her life so young...
So yes, I loved this book, and booksellers everywhere! It's both hilarious and gobsmacking....more

It is both educational (fascinating to me about the military training and deployments) and sad (the failure of the media, the family, the institutions), and ultimately clarifying.
As one pundit pointed out, this is an extraordinary historical document regarding the British monarchy. Prince Harry was fortunate to have the services of a wonderful ghostwriter, but his humble honesty is laudable.
Of course my favorite parts were the hints of life “beyond the physical” sprinkled among the sobering details.
I hope Harry writes another book, one even more confident about sharing these transcendent moments when the reality of life beyond this world becomes unmistakable. So many people have such experiences, especially after the death of a loved one, the birth of a child, the near-misses, and the “OMG, what if I hadn’t…”s.
For Spare, Harry demonstrated his fearlessness in pursuit of truth. It will be truly wonderful when he uses that courage to share all that he has experienced first-hand about the unseen life that constantly surrounds us. He will help so many! Meanwhile, I love that he let us in on these small, precious, and highly personal glimpses. Bravo! And thank you.
I do hope this young father prevails in his quest for personal peace. I have no confidence that those who’ve proven their bondage to the old ways will ever change, but Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will be leaders—are already leaders—no matter what titles they hold. ...more

ATook me a long time to read this book in small snatches of time. But it is a dreamlike journey I'm glad I took, despite the ultimate emotional toll. Amazing writing. Probably a gazillion reviews of it exist, so I won't say more except to my friends who might see my review: I recommend you journey to India with this author if you have the courage and the patience and a desire to feel. It deserves the acclaim. ...more
