So I was excited to read the first in a s new series from her, Love Under the Stars is not only historical fiction, but it features the very real John Brashear (who invented the lenses and telescopes we use today!) Whilst the romance story of John and Phoebe is entirely fictional, the timeline and events are very real.
I love how Shoop has the ability to transport her readers to the very heart of her stories timeline, you really get a feel for what life was like all those years ago from the era, the sights sounds and smells and the general feeling of how hard it must have been to live like that compared to the luxuries that we have now.
Judging from this first book I predict this series will be another hit for her and fans of historical fiction alike.

It has become a tradition to read the latest Moonglow novella from Deborah Garner over the last few years and I can't wait for the year to roll around to December so I can sit back and relax and join the wonderful residents and regular hotel patrons who we have come to love and enjoy meeting year after year.
This year the residents of Timberton, Montana are hosting their first Yuletide festival and with new arrivals to the hotel, Mist has her work cut out for her this year as she hosting her legendary Christmas Eve dinner not once but twice! In true Mist style she takes it all her stride and her 'what happens happens' attitude is one endearing feat.
To get yourself come festive cheer and leave the horrors of this year behind then you will love Yuletide at Moonglow

It would have been much better if you had an indication who was narrating certain chapters, as it did take me a few moments to catch up - this made the reading flow choppy and it was rather annoying.

Danni Brooks wakes up in the middle of the night, heads outside to see what the dog is barking at and essentially get locked out - next thing she sees her house go up in flames with her husband and three children inside! Mia her oldest manages to get out by smashing her bedroom window and from here the story revolves around the fire investigation.
The book is told from Danni's view from her past during her childhood suffering bullying and abuse from her older sister Beth to the present dealing with the aftermath of the fire and trying to coax her daughter Mia into not falling into a pit of darkness. There are several points of view from other characters that you begin to wonder who they are and how they relate to Danni, and once all is releveled I was not expecting that twist not only that we were thrown with another twist right at the very end!!
I really enjoyed this book and it was a 5 star read for me as once I started it I could no put it down = one word of warning the bullying, rape and abuse is very central theme but very essential to tell Danni's tale.

I have not read the previous books in the DI Barton series and truth be told I fit right into the characters and felt that the back stories was enough to keep me in the loop.
DI John Barton has been recovering from an injury from the previous book, and it isn't long before he is thrust back into a new position of acting DCI to cover maternity leave and also help his inspectors become more independent in their roles.
When a triple homicide of three drug addicts is discovered Barton finds it hard to stick with the desk job for too long and soon he is in the fray doing both jobs! I loved watching it all unfold as the police and Barton piece the puzzle together and link everything to our killer.
This was a 5 star read for me and I am definitely going to check out more from Ross Greenwood...more

Fair Trade was a quick read and once again Macy finds herself caught up in not one but two mysteries that are ultimately connected. When her childhood friend and lead singer of Carolina Crush is in area to headline the state fair she reconnects with her and is invited to dinner with the band, only the band are less than receptive of Macy but she puts it down to "fame" Carolina ends you in the hospital and Macy realised that she has likely been poisoned! I really loved Caroline and hoped upon hope that she wasn't going end up dead, thankful she didn't but another band member does and the twist involving that I did not see coming!
The ever lovable great dale Coal is ever present in this story just like the last as well as few other fluffy additions. I am loving this series and can't wait to read more from the Barks & Bean Cafe.

Told in duel timelines from 1969 and 2019 we have Susan who ends up getting pregnant and then dealing with being sent to a home for unmarried mothers by her tyrant of a father who wouldn't let her marry in order to keep the child. Its hard to imagine that this is what happened only 50 years ago, being forced to give up your baby because you weren't married, I really connected with Susan and I was riveted by her tale.
In 2019 we are watching the Nielsen family get ready to celebrate Christmas in their cosy farmhouse, only Jo has a surprise for her husband Magnus that is going to both timelines together.
You can see where it is headed and I was every so emotional reading Sue reconnecting with her son Magnus, it truly was a heart warming read.

From the story line, to the mystery, to the adventure and the characters Inside Voices was just one of those books that sucked me right in. Penny is struggling with PTSD after witnessing a high school massacre and then losing her father to the same killers, so Penny and her mother move to Anchorage, Alaska where she study and work in the Tundra, tagging polar bears after enrolling in graduate program at Anchorage University. Penny's mysterious twin Lucy is never far from her thoughts and thus the title of the book makes sense - they both communicate via twin telepathy, and as the story goes alone I begin to have suspicions of certain things, but when a murder happens in this sleepy tundra I am kinda thrown off that train of thought, nicely done Ms. Davis!
The whole setting of Anchorage and the polar bears and how amazing Penny is at throwing herself into to her coping mechanisms of her PTSD and the little twist that will take your breath away - everything about this book is just brilliant!

'And Then She Shines' is a collection of five novellas, featuring five different women who each face a different issue or obstacle and overcome it. The stories may be only a few chapters long but they certainly pack a punch and highlight how strong and empowering each woman is within their own story.
These stories tackled important issues such as depression, addiction, and adoption and I really resonated with 'Love, Anna' as a sufferer of depression I was able to see the other side of it and how it effects family and relationships - I know how my partner must have been feelingling Anna during my lowest point.
All in all these were five great stories, each on different yet each one showing you that you can ultimately overcome anything.

Wiseman as done a great deal of research in the Ripper murders and this evident with this story, and when fact meets fiction in the form of Sherlock Holmes, we are met with another take on the Ripper' identity. Whilst I have not read a lot of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock, I found Wisemans Sherlock to pretty on point with all his little egocentricity and nuances, what I loved most was how this tale was told from Holmes POV instead of Watsons.
If you are fan of Holmes or slightly obsessed by the Ripper murders then this is book to see you through lockdown boredom and travel back in time to dark bleak London.

Topaz and Opal are left to handle the 'museum' whilst their father Dr Cushing is off searching for the Ice Man. I loved the twins and the encounters they experienced in their fathers absence.
I have long be a fan of vampires werewolves and the like so this story really appealed to me, and though it was quite lengthy I was totally engrossed and found myself unable to put it down.

This story was romance and mystery all wrapped in one, the romance was a little cheesy at times but I really got hooked on the mystery aspect. She has OCD and has her little behaviours that she must do in order to go about her daily life. Her housemates 'tolerate' her OCD and when Mini introduces her to the world of cleanstagrams on Instagram this gives Regi something to focus on and put her OCD to a use within the house. She begins to obsess over Mrs Clean's account and a troll who seems to just want to put the account owner down all the time, I found this pretty prevalent in terms of the top cleanstagramer that is currently taking Instagram by storm and it reminded me of her and her trolls on her account.

I loved this book it was a very gripping and compelling read but come the end I had no idea what I had just read! I actually had to re-read the last two chapters. Randolph is a moose, and he really wants to to help Santa pull his sleigh, but being a Moose everyone laughed at him and told he couldn't do it as he wasn't a reindeer yet that doesn't stop him from trail running as he trains to join the reindeer in Santa's flight school. But he still doesn't get into the flight school, because of his height and strength he is put to work loading in the workshop. Soon he begins to get noticed for his skills and when Rudolph plays a trick on the other reindeer that means they cant fly Randolph is asked to step in to help.
Randolph the Christmas Moose covers topics that include acceptance, endurance and bulling in a way that a child will understand, it is a great book to create a talking point on these issues with your children, and I know I strive my best to instil acceptance with my kids. They loved this book especially my youngest and the illustration are just beautiful and compliment the story well.

This may labelled as book 2 in the Miller Hatcher series but it was easily read as a stand alone.
Miller is a journalist in Lentford, and she receives as cryptic letter stating 'it begins tonight' and it appears it was from The Scarf killer, who is seeking notoriety for his killings vie Miller journalism. Then we have Cassie, who's mother was murdered but her killer never found, with the new deaths could the Scarf killer be who she is looking for?
This was quite a suspenseful read, and it kept me guessing right up until the end - I thought I had it figured out but Crutchley really keeps you on your toes!
