Gage's mom**spoiler alert** Okay. So I've finished the series. It kept me engaged all 7 installments. But I have a buttload of questions. And thoughts
Gage's mom had him at 13. WTF!?! And everyone in Shadow Brook thought that was okay and normal???
Gage never asked his father why was he a pervert? A man in his 20s knocking up a child????
How was Veda able to have sex so soon after she lost her baby???
I'm still confused as to how Gage went through life with no clue about what was going on in his twisted family
Why didn't we get the details on Grace's rape since it was pivotal to Linc's story?
Why orbs? Why not use eyes like normal people?
So many repetitive phrases and sentences. If I had to read about Gage's 8 pack abs one more time...
Awkward descriptions of normal actions.
The sex scenes got repetitive and boring
Part two of book 7 was meh. Therapy? I could care less.
And why weren't we privy to Gage's and Veda's reunion? Why start part 2 10 freaking months later?!?!?! So we just gonna skip over the reunion, the pregnancy, the birth? That's what I wanted to read about!!!!
I understand why some readers were disappointed with Linc's book. Mia Ali is not the heroine for him.
I'm still confused about the grandpa daddy. How is Gage normal???? Like shouldn't he have issues? The DNA is wayyyy tooooo close.
Linc and Veda should have ended up together
Anyway I had fun reading this series. It was addicting.
Edited to add:
So Dante had no clue about what was going on with his sister Coco or what was going on in the town?? He owns a bar! He had to have overheard conversations. Be suspicious of the disappearances. Dante was even more clueless than Gage! Too many unexplained loose ends for me.
And how is Gage this olive-skinned Italian dude when from the descriptions of his parents, they're white as hell?
Ok I'm done. For this to be 7 installments, the writing and plot could have been tighter IMO....more

I had the impression that Veda's main goal was to get revenge on the 10 men that raped her. That's the only reason why she returned to Shadow Brook. Now I can understand getting a little side-tracked by some good d*ck but COME ON! Now Hope and Jake are in on it too?!?! And who the eff is Hope that Veda has 100% trust in her even though they haven't seen each other in 10 years?? Why does this seem like it's nothing but a game. I would appreciate this more if Veda was written like how the blurb portrays her - a woman on a mission to exact revenge at all costs. Works at the hospital during the day. Exacts revenge at night with ZERO regrets. This Veda is to wishy-washy. I'd rather that she just stop altogether because the sh*t is sloppy.
Veda is described as having a Type A personality so she's going after her rapists in alphabetical order. Ummm....why isn't anyone realizing that the police department is going to notice the same damn pattern?!?!?! Like come on!!!!! And what is this darkness Veda keeps talking about? Ain't nothing dark about her. If there was true darkness, she would have killed Todd instead of castrating him and this would have been a 3 book series. She's not dark. She's seriously effed up and needs counseling and has emotional issues. That does not equal darkness.
Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
When I read Captive one of my complaints was the author's use of the word "orbs" all the damn time when describing a character's eyes. I have pin-pointed when the excess use started. In book 4. And now she's orbing all over the place.
A lot of repetitiveness is dragging down the plot. My overall frustration with Veda and the Scooby Gang. But I'm hooked and I want to see how this all plays out. But this truly could have been a 3 book series if Veda was really about her business of revenge.
I have no words for Gage. He annoyed me. Pissed me off. He's kind of a punk at times. I don't know. Linc is the better male character.

A lot of repetition. Veda's indecisiveness was getting on my nerves. If your sole purpose for being back in Shadow Brook is to exact revenge, then why is she so on the fence about doing just that?!?!?! And she's so clumsy about it which means maybe her heart really isn't in it. Maybe she needs to take a step back and plan better. Wait a year and try again. Also, how can all these people go missing in a small town and it not be national news?!?!?!?! And the local police seems so complacent about it. I guess as a reader we are supposed to suspend belief for the sake of the story. Anyway, I really love Linc. Gage is creepy, super intense in the non-sexy way and could be one step from being a serial killer. I mistakenly read Captive first so I know who Veda ends up with. I can see why people were so disappointed....more

I love the Baymoor series and I'm looking forward to the spin-off. But I am not a fan of Young's writing. No matter how many books I read by this author, the writing style prevents me from fully enjoying her books. And it's a shame because the Baymoor series is a great series!!! But the italicizing of sentences to show emphasis (?) is distracting. The flashbacks to the previous day or a few hours earlier in the day is distracting and annoying. Flashbacks should only be used to go back into the past. The real past....as in years. Every time I'm like why is there a flashback for a conversation that was had 2 hours ago. Why not just write that scene or have the characters talk about the conversation that was had?? I'm not a writer but as a reader, it takes me out of the story and makes me question what the author is doing.
Also it would be nice if the author had a website in addition to a FB page. Not everyone has FB or wants to use FB. And having a newsletter would be helpful as well. I stumble upon Young's new releases by accident every single time. Thankfully I'm on Amazon daily searching for books to read. But i shouldn't have to do this to know when an author has a new release.
Anyway, love the series. Looking forward to the spin-off. I'm sure i will continue to be annoyed by Young's style of writing but fortunately it won't prevent me from reading her books (for now). ...more

The heroine is 18 years old! And her life sucks that damn bad to she runs off with a serial killer?!?!? Bitch please! Of course the killer is sexy rich and handsome so that he's more palatable. Ugh. Way too many sex scenes to the point where it became repetitive. Carrie is a virgin but has no problem taking in Jeremy's dark sexual desires. What. Ever. Final thoughts: This book was so dumb. There was murder. Yes. Didn't believe the love part. ...more

Captive is Linc's story and things are mentioned that happened prior that readers are supposed to be privy to. Despite jumping into this book blind I had no issues following the plot. I liked the characters, the plot and the romance. Mia was no wilting flower. I will say my only issue was with the author's writing style. It took some getting used to. She liked to use the word orbs alot when describing a characters eyes. It was odd. I enjoyed Caotive enough to go back and read the previous books in this series ...more

There were numerous times where I wanted to throw my Kindle against the wall. For a character that's 30 YO she's immature AF!!!! Why Damon put up with her ass is beyond me. I know they have a history. I complicated history of friendship, love and sex. But damn! I was ready to DNF the book when Nicky went off about an Instagram post. Let me repeat - she stopped talking to Damon for 8 days because some skank was trying to start some ish on INSTAGRAM!!!!! Nicky automatically assumed the worse of Damon when he's never done anything but be there for her. Nicky is such a user. How can Nicky claim to love Damon, heart and soul, and use him the way she did? Where Damon had faith in their love 100%, Nicky was only 50% in. And I'm giving her credit with the 50%.
Despite Nicky being immature, insecure, irrational, jealous and an all around terrible person, I really enjoyed this book. It's actually my favorite of the series. Imagine that. LOL! ...more
