It is a spiritual book, a guide of some kind, but there is nothing distinguished about it for people living in the real world. Same old stuff about ascetic life and same old do`s and don't s. It finishes by giving different recipes for "perfection" as if you are reading one of the desert Fathers, totally divorced from reality. You can go to Google books and freely download Paradise of the Fathers and it is same old stuff. This kind of books has its use but there is danger in trying to turn into a perfectionist and think there is a piece of advice for everything, a quick fix for everything in the spiritual life. Oh only if it was that easy!
