I can't exactly pinpoint why I didn't love this as much as everyone else did. But I'm going to say that maybe my mood had a lot to do with it. It's definitely a cute read that has many funny moments, but I was expecting at least a little drama here and there? I honestly don't know.
I will say that I read this after coming from a pretty emotional read, so I guess I was in that same mind set. And was expecting there to be a little more of everything in this one. However, this is the perfect light-hearted read with the best snarky one-liners, I might even snag them for myself.

BLOG | INSTAGRAM | AMAZON | BOOKBUB | TWITTER In true Malia fashion, I've started this series so late meaning that Dillon's story is the first I've read from the Opposites Attract series. AND this is my first time read from Rachel Higginson and I definitely can't wait to go back and read the rest of this series.
Dillon's destructive and care-free past starts this book off and there's a major spotlight on her vulnerabilities. It was honestly such a painful and sad beginning for this book, but it definitely got me to understand her character a lot and why she did the things that she did.
I wasn't expecting for this to be a bit of a slow burn and I was hoping for a bit more on the romance front. I adored every scene between Dillon and Vann. I never felt so giddy while reading a book, I swear, they're just adorable!
Vann was seriously a breath of fresh air, I couldn't get enough of his blunt honesty and how much of a health nut he was. It was so hilarious, but I was alllll for it. I loved what he brought out of Dillon, he kind of helped her to be bold in every aspect of her life. He definitely had some things wrong about her. When he made his thoughts known to her, she set out to prove him wrong. It was a bit of a backwards attempt to do things out of her comfort zone, but it worked and she came out better for it.
Ahhhh these two, forever tip-toeing around the inevitable. But with Dillon's insecurities holding back, she's constantly running in the other direction whenever it comes to Vann. He's a bit of an unique character with not only his honesty, but he was never looking for something serious and always went for the nice/good girl. Even with the insane chemistry sizzling between them.
Dillon and Vann are so perfect for each other and they definitely bring out the best in one another. I truly loved their story and like I've said before, it made me so giddy like high school crush, giddy! Just wanted to wrap them up and hug them forever ha.
I can't wait to get to the beginning and read about everyone else's love story!
Major thank you to Rachel Higginson for the reader's copy!
I don't know why it took me so long to finally read from the Text series, but I decided to jump in with Text Me Baby One More Time. I thoroughly enjoyed my firsthe 3.5 STARS
I don't know why it took me so long to finally read from the Text series, but I decided to jump in with Text Me Baby One More Time. I thoroughly enjoyed my first time read from Teagan and couldn't get enough of her writing. I was so drawn into her words and just wanted more. Thankfully, I have three books to read from this series, so it's technically not over for me.
As much as I loved Teagan's writing and the hilarious banter between Shepherd and Denver, I just couldn't get behind Shep's reasons for keeping away from Denver. They just weren't enough for me to really be ok with what he did. To me, he was the definition of a man child. As much as I loved them together, he definitely doesn't go down as one of my favorite heroes.
Besides all that, I really enjoyed the story for the most part, I couldn't stop chuckling over the fun and witty relationship that Shep and Denver had with each other. Second chance romances are my absolute kryptonite, so I'm always eager to get to the end to see their happy ever after. Even with all the humor, Teagan effortlessly weaves in the emotions where it punches you right where it hurts. And I was allllllll there for it!
Their texting relationship was something I adored because I'll be honest, it was reminiscent to my little love story with my husband and how our relationship first started. Ah memories, gotta love them. It was so cute to see how things started for them, which will definitely have you rooting for them instantly.
I know all the books in this series can be read as a standalone, but I think it's better if you start from book 1. There were a bunch of characters that I had my guesses who they all were and how they tied in with everything. But I'd probably would have made my reading experience better if I read all the previous books. So it was a bit of an overload for me, but I was intrigued to learn more about all these side characters.
Teagan definitely has some memorable-comical dialogue that I couldn't stop laughing at and ones that made me eager to read more. So yeah, although Shep wasn't my favorite, still loved reading this gem of a story.
I'm always looking forward to Mimi's book, you honestly never know what you're going to get. And this was such a treat to read. I'm a bit late to this series, mainly for the lack of reading because I own the previous three ... I enjoyed every moment of Battle of the Bulge and the title just cracks me up.
We've got a wicked smart, quick and unique heroine. She's definitely someone I never expected with being a shy female bodyguard. Abi is amazing at her job and is so protective of those she loves, which kind of says alot when it comes to the jerk that she has to watch over. But my goodness, the loathing is deep for her current client, who she just happens to have a little bit of a history with. As much as she wants to quit, this job pays well and she needs the money to stay afloat.
Since I don't really want to refer to this guy as 'the Bulge', we'll use his real name, Mitch. Besides being an absolute a** to Abi every waking moment they're around each other, you can quickly sense that there's more to this guy than what we see. And that definitely kept things a bit suspenseful because someone is after him and he's hoping he'll come out of this alive.
If at most, both of these characters are a walking contradiction, but once the truth is out there, you'll be certain that they couldn't be more perfect for each other.
Their story pulled at my heart more than I expected it to, yes everything about this book is very much a romcom. But Mimi just puts the right amount of angst to really get your heart going. Absolutely loved their story and can't wait to go back and start this series from book 1.
Major thank you to the author for the reader's copy!
Falling for the Cowboy sure was a fun, sexy and quick read. I lovedddd that we finally get to read about Colton since he's besties with the Bishop brothers. sighhhhhh, I sure do miss the Bishop brothers.
I found this read to be an OK one, but still rather enjoyable. It's tough when Kennedy Fox has some amazing reads that I just absolutely adore.
I'm really enjoying nowadays that authors are writing their heroines as bloggers/bookstagrammers! Talk about fun and just another little thing we can all relate to ;-)
This is a sweet little read that everyone and Kennedy Fox fans will enjoy. It's low on the angst/drama and can definitely be read in one sitting....more
The last book in the Badd Brothers series and I just hate to see them go. Badd Medicine didn't quite hit the mark with me, but I still have so much love for these men and their women .... and just this series as a whole.
When the Badd triplets came along, I was completely intrigued by these three, I just wanted to know what their personalities were like. Out of the three, I think I connected the least with Ram and Izzy. But there were quite a few things that I loved about them, don't get me wrong.
Jasinda Wilder is definitely one of my favorite authors out there, her stories are always fun to read and she really packs it in on the steam factor. Grab a fan, ladies/gents, because you will need it.
I liked the love/hate between these two because it really brought on the tension that was just burning through the pages. I've been curious about these two since Badd Kitty and I've been dying to know what happened between these two.
I found Ram and Izzy to be characters with different sides, one that I loved and the other that just downright infuriated me. I didn't expect them to fight their attraction for so long, which lead to the ending that I wanted so much more from. All the brothers have this brash, crude side, but when it comes to their dreams and passions, that's the side that I loved the most and wanted them to share more of.
The constant push and pull became too much for me, it frustrated me so much. I'd say their hiking adventures were my favorite, it really got them to open up to one another and truly get to know each other. These two have sooo many walls that needed to be broken down.
I'm so sad to say farewell to this series, it may not have been a favorite, but I loved it all the same!
Major thank you to Jasinda and Megan for the reader's copy!
Fix Her Up is my second read by Tessa Bailey. I didn't quite fall in love with the first book that I've read by her, but a lot of my bookish friends LUR
Fix Her Up is my second read by Tessa Bailey. I didn't quite fall in love with the first book that I've read by her, but a lot of my bookish friends LURRRRVVVEEEEEE her books. And that's what lead me to give another one of her books a try. Overall, I thought it was a cute story, I can't say that I was completely behind her reasons for the changes she made about herself. But overall, a pretty solid story that so many will enjoy.
Georgie absolutely made this story for me, I loved her so damn much and it was nearly impossible not to. It peeved me so much that no one took her seriously because of what she does for a living. She made a career for herself and it's something she's proud of and absolutely adores. I was tsk-ing so much during this book when it came to her family. She tried and tried to show them that she was more than what she does, and they constantly laughed her off. I hated it. She deserved the world.
Yes, I've been waiting for this book for what seems like forever ... but it really wasn't that long. After we see glimpses of Luca and Lauren from the very beginning of this series, I knew I was looking forward to their story the most. And boom, Engaged to the EMT definitely takes the cake as my favorite in this series!
Oh my gosh, so much to love about these two, but their banter is the absolute best. I love a good fake relationship story because I enjoy reading when lines get blurred and fake turns into something real. And my goodness, it sure is a glorious thing to witness. But you have to admit as asinine as Luca's plan was, you have to see the bigger picture of why he did it. He has a much bigger heart than people think and I just absolutely loved him for it.
Oh these two, sure love to play with fire. The chemistry and tension are blazing between them and this fake relationship was probably one of the best things to happen to them. It definitely set things in motion for them to finally figure out their feelings for each other. So many cutesy and swoony moments between them and I loved every bit of it.
As far as fake relationship stories go, this is probably my favorite. It's just a sweet and endearing read, and you'll be rooting for Luca and Lauren. I am so unbelievably sad to say goodbye to this series, but Piper and Rayne sure did give us a little teaser to the new series that is to come. Bianco cousins, people, and I'm sure it'll be a joy to watch those men get taken down by love.
Another terrific installment to the Blue Collar Brothers series by this amazing duo! Can't wait for their next release!
Ahhh, one of my favorite author duos are back at it again with the 4th (how fitting) book in Mavericks Tackle Love! And what a pretty funny read it turned out to be. There were things here and there that kept me from really loving it, but it was still thoroughly an enjoyable read.
Man, if I was ever on the hunt for first impression stories, Leo and Gemma would probably have the most memorable. That scene goes down as one of my favorites because it was just absolutely hilarious. I can't even imagine being in a situation like that. I thought Gemma handled it as best as she could and it was adorable when Leo tried to not make a fuss about it. That one time was enough for the both of them leaving some kind of impression, but it wouldn't be until some time later, they'd meet again ... during yet another interesting situation.
Nonna has got to be one of my favorite characters in this book, she's just a gem! And I'm totally down with her little business that she's running out of her house. Yet another scenario that makes for more hilarious stories, trust me, you'll love it!
I thought Leo and Gemma were cute together! I wished there was more romance between them in the book and it all seemed to progress a lot quicker than I'd hope. I guess it was fitting (maybe) since it's a really quick read. The plot did seem a little bit too choppy and revealing Gemma's passion seemed like it was just randomly dropped into the book. I honestly didn't see it coming and was hoping to learn more about it. Leo does have a heart of gold, but I felt like he was pushing things too hard when it came to Gemma's passion. I found it irritating and at that point in their relationship, it was too much, too soon. I was hoping they would have just kept it very light-hearted read with a lot of funny moments.
Overall, it was still pretty enjoyable read. I was just hoping for a little bit more all around. It wasn't my favorite book of theirs, but I'm definitely looking forward to the next book they release!...more
In true Malia fashion, here I go again reading a book out of order in a series, thankfully Quit Your Pitchin' is a standalone, so you won't be lost or confused. I've got to say the way that Vale chose to write this story was a bit different than something I've read before. I think this is the second book that I've read from her, so I'm not exactly sure if she's written this way previously.
As I was reading, I wasn't expecting for the story to just coast through the highlights of Wrigley and George relationship, but I was surprised that I didn't mind it TOO much, I was simply OK with it. You're still able to grasp the story between these two, be with them entirely as they face some ups and downs in their relationship. Another thing I wasn't expecting was to go from full out laughing at some parts and then just wanting to curl up into a ball and cry. You'll definitely cover the plane of emotions with this one.
The one character I found myself mad at on multiple occasions was Wrigley. I did admire her because of everything she faced growing up and still somewhat dealing with in her present life. But she made some not so great decisions down the road when it came to George. However, George wasn't always a Saint, there were a couple times where I just wanted to slap him in the head and be like "that's the absolute worst idea I've ever heard"!
I'll be honest and say there were quite a few events that were a bit of a twist for me. And it definitely kept me hooked to see what would happen next in their story. You'll absolutely love George, he's definitely what made this story for me. And there were so many time when I just wanted to hug him and tell him it'll be OK. His family sucks besides his grandma, she's hilarious and the absolute best.
When I first signed up to read this, I was expecting a full on romcom, which there were definitely so many hilarious banter moments between them. But the angst and drama is there as well, it was quite the mix. I know in some cases, some readers may not like the constant time jumps and all the drama, but I truly didn't mind it. I didn't exactly love it either, but I enjoyed this. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!...more
I am such a fan of Jasinda Wilder and of this book! She's such a pro for making her readers panting for more. With Hammered being the first for this series, I can you tell you now that I absolutely can't wait for the rest of the books. She gives us just enough insight of the characters who will be getting their own book and trust me, you'll be wanting by the end.
First of all, can we just talk about the heroine's name, Imogen? I don't know why, but it just makes me want me to belt out an Imogen Heap's song (well the only song I know), absolutely loved her name and character. Even though this was told in her POV, I was kind of hoping for Jesse's POV, I wouldn't mind seeing what goes on in his head. I loved being in Imogen's head, it wasn't all pretty, but it was real and extremely hilarious especially when it came to her new "home fixer-upper", Jesse. She can't help but gawk at the beautiful man who finds things to fix in her house.
The dialogue between Imogen and Jesse is full of innuendos and it's so darn funny, but also so darn sexy. Jesse is absolute perfection, I loved that he always reassures Imogen how beautiful she is, inside and out even the times when she can't see that herself. He worships and values her like every woman should. It definitely took some time for Jesse to tear her walls down, but let's be real, she was gone since the first time he showed up at her door.
Hammered is a fun, sweet and sexy read! I've been reading one too many angsty books lately and this one was such a welcomed break! Jasinda, an amazing start to the Dad Bod Contracting series, can't wait for Drilled!...more
After reading Wild Card, I realized that I need to make a summer reads list because this one would definitely be on it. I'm quite the fan of the "fake relationship" trope, they tend to be full of some of the most hilarious moments, which this was very fitting for this rom-com.
I can't believe this was my first time read for Lila Monroe and sticking to my habit of reading books in a series out of order, I'm definitely going to go back and read the rest of this series!
This was just the easy read that I needed, I'd recommend it right after an emotional angsty read. There were so many funny moments in this book and the scenarios that Olivia ends up are downright crazy like nothing I could ever imagine. But no one better than Ryan to always bail her out!
Plenty of hilarious moments, steamy upon steamy scenes and you got yourself a solid rom-com. Absolutely loved this read and definitely see myself re-reading this one!...more
What an absolute sweet read! I’ve read the second book in this series and remember how hilarious the heroines were. And Josey was just that in her chatty and quirky way. She’s a friend that I would just love to have.
Something that I need to do ASAP is read one of L.H. Cosway’s books. I’m a huge of fan of Penny Reid’s work, so it was easy to pick out her awesome humor.
Josey! To read a book with such a relatable and solid heroine. She’s completely honest and I love her constant chatter. And a woman who is 100% comfortable with her sexuality and knows exactly what she wants. Bravo, we all need a Josey in our lives.
William was such a unique character to me. I can’t say that I’ve read a romantic comedy with the added topic of voyeurism. Everyone has their preferences and I pass no judgment whatsoever. I, so, so, so appreciated that Reid and Cosway made it known that it was all concensual (like it should be) between all parties involved. But whether people agreed with it or not, it’s not everyone’s preferences.
Along with Josey, I was completely in love with William. Truly a stand up dude and his personal take on relationships and porn (yes, you read that right) was so damn refreshing and honest.
Everything about these two made them so relatable. With Joey’s hilarious inner dialogue and banter between the both of them, it brings you plenty of laughs. And more of those mushy feels that everyone loves so much.
I forever love this writing duo and I hope they have more books planned for the future! It’s been a while where I’ve read a solid friends with benefits trope that didn’t seem redundant. And this one just puts all others to shame.
P. S. There is no voyeurism going on in this book. It was the hero’s preference, but no longer does it....more
I've got to say, this book was a lot funnier than I expected it to be, which definitely made for a rather enjoyable read. After reading The Right Stud, I'm definitely a fan of this writing duo, so pleaseeeeeeee, give us more books! It was a funny and sweet read, a great summer beach read to add to your list.
Ashton wants nothing more than to fix up her grandmother's home in hopes of turning it into a bed & breakfast. Even though her baking skills are something to be envious of, her home renovation skills are the complete opposite. And Jax Roland is just the guy she needs to uh ... help fix up her home ;-)
Once she gets the email she's been waiting for and when he comes knocking on her door. She quickly realizes that this wasn't their first time meeting. The night before, in hopes of finding someone to help her forget about her cheating ex, it was nearly a fail until she bumps into a mystery man who she just happens to share a kiss with that'll forever be planted in her mind. After telling her he needed to run a quick errand, he asked her to wait (what an idiot he was, if you ask me). But after a couple of hours go by, he's nowhere to be found.
Jax is quite famous in the YouTube world for his home improvement show. Ashton's beach home renovation is just the project he needs to land a show on HGTV. Seeing Ashton was definitely something he never expected and he's never felt more regret after he recognizes her from the night before. He wants nothing more than to explain himself and get back into her good graces. Even though this project is something he has always wanted, seeing Ashton again, he's definitely got his eye on something more.
I loved watching these two tiptoe around their instant chemistry and trying so hard. And who knew it would be a family of skunks to finally bring these two together. You can only fight attraction for so long.
Sooo many funny moments in this one, not only with their banter but the ever so witty Mrs. C and we can't forget the bird that you should never let around your kids. This was just the romcom that I needed and I was hooked the entire time. Add The Right Stud to your summer reads and prepare to laugh your a** off!...more
