IAN .... IAN .... IAN! My goodness, I forgot how much I loved Ian and was completely overjoyed when I heard he was finally getting his own series. Ian & Veritas had me hooked on their story, line for line. And I simply couldn't get enough of it. But with every series that Jeaniene puts out, the ending will be a bit of a cliffy and leaving you absolutely hungry for more.
Veritas was definitely a heroine that you have to get used to, it wasn't instant for me. But once you understand a bit more of who she is and what her life is like, you can't really blame her for the type of person she is. When it comes to Veritas, there's still so much we don't know about her. But by the end, I was completely in awe of her and she's quickly becoming one of my favorite heroines that Jeaniene has written.
Ian was the exact same, but well a bit more once we see him develop feelings for Veritas. And I was loving every moment of it and just wanted so much more. I don't think I could ever get enough of this vampire. Vlad is still probably one of my favorites, but Ian easily comes in second.
I never realized how much I missed this world until reading this one and it looks like I'll be going back to do a major re-read. I am so looking forward to Book 2 in this series and hopefully, it'll be summer in no time. Love, love, loved this book!
Major thanks to Avon Books and Pure Texuality PR for the advance reader's copy!
I am so happy that I discovered Piper Rayne this year because I have absolutely fallen in love with this series! The premise of this series is what drew me in, nothing like when your gal pals all bid on dates for you. And next up in that crazy storyline is Cristian Bianco, the hot cop!
We get little sneaks of Cristian and Vanessa in Flirting With Fire and it just built up my eagerness to get my hands on this one. It was pretty evident that it was going to be a battle for these to two to finally get together. It was definitely more on Vanessa's side since she's a bit closed off and well has reasons why she'd NEVER pursue someone like Cristian. But boy did he push her buttons and I just loved him for it. I was rooting for Cristian the entire time because he really was a stand-up guy. I kept screaming, "Vanessa, how can you resist him?!". I can definitely appreciate a man that goes after what he wants.
I love the brother element to this series, the banter between them is absolutely hilarious. I have three brothers and we're all pretty close, so I totally get the family dynamics.
Crushing on the Cop is definitely an enjoyable and quick read! And it'll leave you begging for the next book in this series. The chemistry between Cristian and Vanessa was instant and sizzling from the beginning and I loved his determination to break her walls down. This one had everything I was looking for in a romance read!...more
Holy crap, what did I just read?! OK. I'm going to start off with that
this book needs ALL the trigger warnings
. Don't take it lightly at all. I'll be honest and say that I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with this book because of the content. And with this being my first read from Alex Grayson, she did an absolutely fantastic job with weaving this dark, twisty, disturbing tale with a bit of romance. I definitely loved the romance part of this book, but everything else was a little bit much for me to handle.
When I was reading up about this book, I thought it was a paranormal, but boy was I wrong. I wasn't exactly on board with Trouble's character and it was everything that was going through his mind that bothered me. It was a bit disturbing and perverted. But I did like how much he cared about Remi, she was definitely the light to his dark.
Sweet and strong, Remi. I will never understand what she had to go through, it's not an easy story to hear at all. But I admired her pursuit towards something better, but I bet she didn't imagine seeing herself in a town like Malus, Texas. A place where her story is something many of the townspeople can relate to, unfortunately.
This book did feel akin to the movie, The Boondock Saints, in the sense of what Trouble and his brothers do in their hometown. He and his brothers all have their own dark story, but this town and its past is one of the things that bonds them. This book is standalone, so his brothers will get their story in this series.
I'm sure I have the unpopular opinion when it comes to Trouble in Hell, but it all comes down the fact that I don't read these types of books often or at all. Yeah, I'll dive into dark romances, but then again this wasn't quite a dark romance. The love story was like many that I've read before and loved. It was all the other stuff behind Trouble, his brothers and the town that got to me. So, I won't be one that's going to shut this book down. I'm a fan of Grayson's writing, she seriously did an amazing job writing this story.
I'll definitely be giving her other books a try, but this series is not my cup of tea. Many did love this one, so it could definitely work for you!...more
Hockey romance for the win and they're easily becoming one of my favorite romances to read! Big Stick was my first read by Kelly Jamieson and of course, in true Malia fashion, I'm rather late to this series…it's book 7…oops!
I loved and admired Jodie's strong independence. I'm always a fan when kids are brought into the fold and a huge part of the story. I can't say that I've read a story where the heroine took matters into her own hands and decided to have a child on her own. And I won't understand what it's like to be a single mother. But to me, she handled everything as best as she could and she is such an amazing mother to Zyana.
And I loved that Jodie and her best friend, Kendra, run a sex toy business together! It definitely brought some humorous moments in the book because it's so easy.
Ahhh Nick, he has a lot of pain and guilt that he's dealing with. And he handles it in the only way he knows how, alone. When it comes to Nick and relationships, he keeps them at bay. Thinking he doesn't deserve to have that kind of commitment with anyone, so he keeps it casual with no strings.
Jodie and Zyana moving into the house on his property was probably one of the best thing for Nick. With their rough start, I was eager to see they relationship turn into something more. Little by little, you see Nick opening up around Jodie.
As his walls start falling away, behind that tough and stand-offish exterior, there's a genuinely sweet guy that's absolutely caring.
I loved the slow burn between these two and they're definitely one of my favorite kind of stories to read. I did feel in some parts where it lulled a little bit. But I was eager to get to the end to their happy ever after.
I definitely enjoyed this read and can't wait to start from the beginning in the Aces Hockey series.
Major thanks to Ballantine/Loveswept for the advanced reader's copy. ...more
I’ve definitely been anticipating this book once I heard it was being released! I’m a huge fan of Sara Ney and have read few of Meghan Quinn’s book, so I knew we’d all be in for a treat with this one. I was a bit surprised with the slower pace it took to finally get to all the romantic stuff, but I still found this pretty damn hilarious and rather enjoyable!
If anyone is fans of these two authors, it seems nearly impossible to not enjoy this one. Probably one of my favorite parts about this book was the banter between Rome and Peyton especially the emails they wrote each other. Even when Rome didn’t know who his mystery pen pal was for a while.
Yes, we all know that Rome was going to be a grade-A d-bag and thankfully it wasn’t overboard or I’d probably find zero redeeming qualities in the guy. Peyton really got him to open up and I loved seeing that side of him.
And I absolutely loved Peyton, can we all have a friend like her? I really enjoyed the fact that she was branching out to start her own business, even though her boss’s boss was the absolute worst, she admired the fact that he started a successful company from the ground up all on his own.
I can’t say that I connected with Rome, but let’s just talk about the awesome bromance he has with Hunter. Usually the best friend can be a bad influence, but I loved him a lot more than I thought I would. He definitely surprised me since he seems to think through things better than his hot-headed BFF, Hunter.
I really enjoyed this and am sooo looking forward to the next book they write together. We get a glimpse of it at the end and I’m rather eager to read it!...more
The VIP series were the first books that I've read by Kristen Callihan and I've been dying to read Jax's story. To be honest, it has been a long time since I've read this series, so I think a re-read is in order. I can't say that I have a whole lot of rockstar romances that I absolutely love, but this book will always be a fave. We get to see the much deeper side of this life and how absolutely crazy it can be. I fell head over heels in love with Jax and Stella and just their story, overall. It's emotional, it's real and absolutely beautiful. With all the fame, there can also be a much darker and painful side that many never see.
I could never imagine being famous nor would I ever want to be. To me, there's nothing appealing about being in the spotlight, I feel like eventually, it takes its toll on you and just sucks your soul! In this book, we witness 2 years after Jax hit rock bottom and he's still trying to figure everything out in his life. And in enters Stella Grey, who just comes crashing into his life. The first chapter was easily one of my favorites, it's when they first meet and it's absolutely comical. Every man should know that you should never come between a woman and her sweets! My husband knows better and reading this hilarious event unfold had me in fits and I fell in love with Stella almost instantly.
I really enjoyed how their story started off with a lot of humor and banter that'll have you snickering for days and it transitions into another layer where we see some depth of Callihan's main characters. When a new job that Stella takes on ends up having her being neighbors with Jax, once they get past all that loathing, she begins to see past his attractive ways. And she quickly realizes that she understands him more than he thinks she does, there's definitely something akin between these two.
Jax has a bit of a battle to get through before we see that happy ending. And I appreciated the way Kristen wrote about Jax and handling his mental health. It's something that's very real and relatable and I loved that she didn't gloss over it or try to tuck away in a corner to be ignored.
Stella was more than willing to walk next to him and give Jax everything he'd need to get past his demons. But Jax needed to take that big leap into the unknown with her. To love, to trust; something that didn't come easy for the both of them.
I can't tell you enough about how much I loved this book, it's easily my favorite in the series. It was easily a one-sitting kind of read and don't even get me started on the number of times that I teared up reading their beautiful story. Callihan flawlessly weaves us a story where we're quickly transitioned between lightheartedness and the feels.
FALL is a book that everyone needs to add to the top of their TBR!
If you haven't read The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks then you must high tail out of here and get on it. This is the concluding book of the Jerk Duet, so just be ready to just fall in love with Ollie and Lucky.
We've all been waiting for this book, thankfully for not very long. But we were all eager to hear Ollie's side of the story especially the way things ended after book 1.
Now that I knew what to expect with this one, writing style-wise, I was more than ready for Ollie's podcast. And let me tell you, he's one swoon-worthy hero that I absolutely loved.
It was cute and sweet, and darn right irresistible. I couldn't put this one down at all. As I was reading every chapter and falling more in love with Ollie, I was so ready and hopeful for his and Lucky's reunion.
The one thing I was hoping for more of was of them being together. Can we get extra podcasts from them both, pleaseeeeeeee?! Their banter is absolutely hilarious and I couldn't get enough of it.
Max and Monroe have easily become one of my favorite author duos. I'm always looking forward to their next read. I wish I took more time reading this duet, but it was just so easy to devour.
The Jerk Duet is such a unique read that's written like a podcast. I wished so hard it was a real podcast because I'd be an instant fan and download every episode. Lucky and Ollie had a little bit of a hate-to-love relationship, but things changed when they couldn't fight their attraction towards each anymore. Be ready to swoon because you'll definitely swoon hard with this one!
I love a good book by Max and Monroe, so I was over the moon when I heard about this duet coming out. When it comes to authors that I absolutely adore, I tend to go into their books completely blind. The writing style was interesting and wasn’t sure what to expect with a podcast writing style. But I was surprised that it didn’t really bother my reading experience at all. Absolutely loved Luciana and Ollie’s story, which is told my Luciana’s POV. And for book 2, well in be getting Ollie’s and I have been dying to know his side since I finished reading this one.
What a treat this book turned out to be! I loved every little bit of it and I found myself crying at moments, because the FEELS, people. Quite the heartbreaking moment in this one and I was certainly unprepared for it.
This was my first time reading a book in a podcast style, I don’t normally listen to podcasts, the one’s that I’ve tried were a bit boring. And it made me a bit nervous to read this one, but I loved it in the end.
My goodness there were so many things to love about Luciana and Ollie. Their chemistry and banter was EVERYTHING in this book. And more than anything, they were the ones that drew me in so much. I really enjoyed that their love story took time, but it was evident since day one that there was something more between them. Everything was going so well between the both of them and I was just wondering when the other shoe was going to drop! And when it did, cue the tears because it opens up Luciana so much more. And it just made me want to run to her and hug her!
I really liked Luciana’s concept of writing letters to her ex-boyfriend, it showed us another side of her amazing character. That she truly wanted to move on from the past of being consistently screwed over by her ex-boyfriends. She learned so much from each and every one of them, but I loved how blunt she was when it came to talking about them and how they treated her so poorly. She wasn’t trying to seek out revenge, this whole process was for her to get closure on the past. And by the end of the book, she came out so much stronger for it.
So yeah, absolutely LOOOOOOOOVEEEDD everything about The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks. Book 2 will be out soon and it’s Ollie’s story, I’m so ready to hear his side!
The Beautiful Sinner was my first read from Sophie Jordan and I really enjoyed this one! Originally I thought this was a second chance, but Gabriella and Cruz never had the chance back in high school to pursue any type of relationship despite the crushes that they had on one another.
What really drew me into this story was the synopsis and I had so many questions dealing with Cruz's false accusation of murder. And once we learned the truth it was glossed over quicker than I thought would be. But the truth showed a side of Cruz that not many would see, he would do absolutely anything for his family. ANYTHING.
Gabriella didn't have an easy time during high school and I absolutely hated everything that she had to endure from her peers. They were the absolute worst and she was still dealing with it in adulthood. They were definitely a few people that needed to be Spartan kicked for the way they constantly talked down to Gabriella. She's just a genuine human being that deserved none of the BS that people constantly spewed on her.
I was hoping for a bit more on the romance side of things, more like rather begging for more. I absolutely loved Gabriella and Cruz together. And I loved that she started to stand up for herself and didn't pay much attention to what people constantly said about her. I adored the way Cruz treated Gabriella.
Beautiful Sinner left a great first impression from this author and I can't wait to dive into the rest of this series!
Major thank you to AVON BOOKS for the advanced reader copy!
Okay ... I REALLLLLLLLY wanted to love this book especially since I'm such a fan of Rachel's book. And Dirty Exes was such a great book and I absolutely loved it. There were some things that became a little bit too much for me and I couldn't quite connect with Isla and Jessie. However, I was very happy that they both got their happy ever afters! And I'm still forever a fan of Rachel's book, so don't let this ONE review make you think otherwise.
After finishing Dirty Exes I kind of knew how this one was going to go especially since Jessie was sure to seek his revenge. And that little bit had me on edge the entire time because I knew it wasn't going to end well at all. I didn't agree with his little plan, not like Isla and Blaire were that much better (that's a different story on its own since I think he pushed all his anger towards the wrong person ... but that's just me). So that little bit didn't put any kind of halo over Jessie.
And little did he know who he was messing with. Even though I may not have connected with Jessie or Isla, I did love how fierce and proud of everything she has built with her company. This company is her baby and damn anyone who would try to take it away for her. And there's where I admired her the most, she never tucked tail when Jessie kept throwing daggers her. She's a fighter for sure.
I was pretty eager to see how things would end up between them, of course, it's a happily ever after. But we all saw from a mile away that something bad was going to happen especially the more fire they threw at each other, the passion was rising between them and the tables were turning. Feelings were bound to get hurt and I definitely wasn't looking forward to that downfall.
Even though I didn't love this book as much as I wanted, Rachel is still one of the most amazing writers ever. She'll keep you hooked and make you want to keep reading to the very end. If you haven't read this series yet, start it off with Dirty Exes and definitely give this one a try, it could definitely be up your alley!
Major thanks to Skyscape and Netgalley for the advance reader's copy.
Throne of Lies is the prequel and must be read before you start Legacy of Lies.
Legacy of Lies & Throne of Lies are my second reads from Tara Leigh. And I definitely loved Jolie and Tripp's story. A bit painful and tragic, but I was so looking forward to their second chance at love.
If you've been a follower of mine for a while, one of my least favorite thing is young love and holding a grudge over something that happened when they were a kid. But the more you read about the fall of their relationship, it was so much more. Lies, betrayal and tragedy was the best way to sum up the beginning of Tripp's and Jolie's story.
After probably one of the worst days in both of their lives, it would be 10 years until they would see each other again. And I was highly anticipating their reunion.
They've both made something of their lives, but you can tell that they haven't exactly been happy since the downfall of everything. More than anything, they've missed each other even though they were both still harboring pain and anger from the day they broke up.
I was so eager to know the truth about everything. It becomes pretty evident that there was a huge misunderstanding and you'll be wondering about the who behind the lies. Who was keeping them apart? The lies are rather unbelievable and just so much shady things going on.
There are so many lies between Jolie and Tripp, but you'll be begging for their happy ever after. Neither one of them want to deal with the past because of the pain, but they have to weather through it all to start something new.
After I read the prequel, which you must. I just had to continue with Legacy of Lies right away. Tara Leigh does a phenomenal job keeping all of her readers engaged and hooked on every single word.
So much heartbreak, but overall a beautiful story! I'll always be looking out for more of Leigh's books!
From the few books that I've read from the Misadventures series, this one is my absolute favorite! I was completely hooked from beginning to the end, from the characters and the storyline, it was everything that I was hoping for and more. I was raging from what Vera's ex-husband and ex-best friend did to her and their kids to complete and utter hope for Vera to find her happy ever after again with Lincoln.
Toni totally hit it out of the park with Misadventures with a Manny! I read it all in one-sitting and was just so sad when this beautiful story was over. I've been in a reading slump for a while and this definitely helped me get out of it.
I felt absolutely horrible for what Vera had to go through with her trash of an ex-husband, she didn't deserve any of that at all. And it was just so heartbreaking to see her go through that and keep a strong face for her kids. However, I'm all about signs and things happening for a reason. And one of the next best things to happen in her life was Lincoln entering it. You will not love a hero more than with Lincoln, swooping into Vera's life at just the right time. Helping out with her kids and just being a male figure in their lives.
I was curious to see how long it would take for things to unfold between them because they fought it for a lot longer than I anticpated them to. The attraction was instant from when they first set eyes on each other. But I totally understand they didn't want to cross that line because employee/employer.
As Lincoln fights his feelings for his boss, we get to see his vulnerable side. He opens up about what he wants with his future, marriage and kids. He wants all of that, so there's something holding him back from pursuing Vera because would she even want that, when she already had it? Ahhh, Lincoln is just pure perfection! He's amazing with the kids and doesn't hold back when he needs to be stern with them. And I love how he constantly tells Vera that she's worth so much and more.
I hated every scene with Vera's ex, he was just downright horrible to her and it made one to seek some violent tendencies towards him. And I thought Vera did a great job trying to be as civil as possible to him even when she was the one that hurt the most from his mistakes. She's an unbelievably strong woman and such an amazing mother! I loved her character so much and there were so many times when I wanted to reach into the pages and hug her!
Everything about this book was beautiful and I just loved it so much, everyone needs to read this!
Easily one of my top favorites this year! I'll be honest and say that it has been a while since I've read from this series and what a time to jump back into it. I'm a huge fan of Emma Chase's book with absolutely falling in love with her Legal Briefs series. And Royally Screwed was such a great start to this amazing series. I foresee re-reading this one over and over again.
When I read the synopsis I never put it together that we'd be going back to the very beginning. And for some reason, I thought historical romance, which I never really read, but I don't think many historical romance lovers would say this was one. Totally not the point, but I can't say enough good things about this one.
Lenora, my heart, I loved her character so damn much. Besides the epic love story between Lenora a Edward, she has a duty to her country; to reign. I don't know about you guys, but whenever I hear royal, I just think epic love story. And I was wondering how she was going to tackle the marriage flaw before she's Queen. From the day she was born, she was prepped to be a queen. Keeping her emotions in check, never wearing her heart on her sleeve, but beyond that, there's so much more to her. She's strong, confident and just unafraid. I loved that she stood up for herself and was willing to challenge anyone without a thought.
Edward, I was just swooning for days over that guy. I was so curious about him since he was first mentioned in the book. The free-spirited and adventurous, Edward. Okay, I lied, not only did Lenora make this book for me, Edward did too. I really enjoyed their heated and witty banter towards one another. For the very little time, they've known each other, they endured so much together, a lot of ups and downs. It gave me so many emotions that had me in tears and I just wanted to reach into the pages and hug the both of them. Once he got past her barriers and really saw this other side of her, the admiration for her was instant for Edward. And he knew that he never wanted to be away from her side.
My gosh you guys, Edward and Lenora are just ... EVERYTHINGGGG. I can't say that enough. Their love was deep and untouchable. Edward has such a deep appreciation for Lenora and he knew that he'd always support her through everything during her reign. They went through a lot of pain and heartache, but it was totally worth it in the end.
I don't read many royal romances, but this one seriously tops all that I've read. Their love story is one that you'll always remember.
Now that I've finished this gem of a read, I need to go back to the two books before this and read those!
As a series, I definitely enjoyed this one especially since it was my first time read from Meghan March. Everything was tied up rather nicely, but the drama was a bit too much for me in this one. If you had any questions with the previous books in this trilogy, they will all be answered.
Thankfully everything was wrapped up one big, nice bow and it made for a solid conclusion.
Whitney and Lincoln have been through so much and it was nice to finally see them together side by side and not taking into account everyone around them. When it came to their relationship, there were too many outside forces constantly trying to keep them apart. And it's just so darn frustrating!
The drama was definitely thick in Reveling in Sin and sooooo many truth bombs were dropped that literally had my jaw on the floor. It was absolutely crazy and a smidge over the top. But despite it all, March's flawless writing was woven together to create this explosive tale.
I loved that this trilogy constantly left me on the edge of seat and begging for more. I thought this was a great set of books to start with and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from Meghan March.
It has been quite some time since I've picked up an Annie Rose Welch book, she's one of my absolute favorite authors out there. And it all started with her Saving Angels series. Once I heard she had a new mafia series coming out, there was no hesitancy to get my hands on this new saga! With only getting through part 1 of a 7 part series, I will be highly-anticipating every single one of them until we get our beautiful ending. Gahhhh, Annie, you already know how much of a fan I am of your beautiful words and The Beautiful Years is such an alluring tale that will leave you begging for more.
When I pick up any of Annie's book, I want zero distractions so I can really focus on the story. The BeautifulYears was a bit of a lengthy start, but it never felt that way to me at all. It's so easy to get lost in her words because she creates every scene with so much detail, it's like seeing it unfold right in front of your eyes. She makes it so easy to get lost alongside these characters, almost like you're right beside them witnessing.
At the beginning is the most pivotal scene that will carry through the entire book, and that's the first time Brando and Scarlett meet. From their very short time together, something shifted between them, it was enough to completely alter their feelings for one other. It was something deep and unexplainable.
I have a bit of a soft spot for slow burn romances, actually, I don't think slow burn is the best way to explain Brando and Scarlett's relationship. Let's just say that their relationship is a patient one, neither one too quick, simply biding their time until the perfect moment. But as you get across every single page of their story, the connection grows deeper for one another.
Brando was such a mysterious character to me, he definitely has that rough and tough persona, but there's this simply beautiful and poetic side of him. It kind of just throws you for a loop for a bit. But it's so easy to just fall in love with him. He's so protective of Scarlett and already claimed her as his since the first day that they met. Scarlett is a bit of a puppet because she is this a flawless and famous ballerina. She has so much talent and can do it all effortlessly, but does she have the passion for it? It doesn't help when she has other people making decisions for her. She yearns for freedom and I don't think even Brando could hold her back from anything.
I don't know what it is about stories with the ballet element added, but it definitely makes for a poetic and haunting story. And that's probably the best way I could describe Brando and Scarlett's love story. They'll constantly leave you wondering what will come next. I already know that their story won't be an easy one and I'm sure my heart will break several times before we get to the end. But I am completely hooked on their story and will constantly beg for more.
The Beautiful Years is a story that you have to take your time and savor every little bit. I'll be honest and say that I'm a little bit nervous to go on this journey of Brando and Scarlett's almost haunting love story. I know that Annie would not make us go through all of this without that happy ever after. It's definitely a long road ahead, but I know it'll all be worth it in the end. I'm so curious to see what will come next for the both of them especially with the way things ended in this one.
Everyone needs to give this saga a chance, Annie never disappoints with her books! Her stories are always one to be cherished....more
The Beautiful Hearts Duet ranks as one of my top favorites for 2018. This duet was typically a read that I don't normally go after. But in the end, we got a beautiful, yet painful read.
By now, I'm sure you've heard about the triangle aspect of this story. And I want to say that, well, it's just really tough to embellish more on that without giving anything away. I promise it's not what you think it is. But for once, I was rooting for every character involved, I wanted all of them to have a happy ending.
We were left with a bit of a cliffhanger and I was having sooooo many thoughts running through my head. I had no idea which direction it was going to go, but as I was making my way through this, I wasn't expecting to have my heart hurt so much during everything that was going on.
Weston went through a traumatic life-altering event while overseas and if anything I came out worrying for him the most. He had huge plans ahead of him, but there was no hard decision when it came to his best friend and brother, Connor. He would always be there for him.
I was mad at Connor for most of this book and I can't say that I'll ever really understand his reasoning for the way he acted after they came home.
And sweet Autumn caught in the crossfires of lies and love.
I hurt for each and every one of them. There were lies, betrayal, love, and even hope. All of them would get a happy ever after, but it wasn't the smoothest nor the easiest journey to get through.
Little by little, more time passed, one truth would be spoken only to have another lie sneaking up behind.
My heart hurt so much making my way through their story, but I put all my faith in Emma to give us a beautiful ending. And that she did.
Infinite love for these characters, their story, and author. I can't recommend this enough and I just loved Emma's story behind this duet. I'm sure it wasn't the easiest to write after everything she's been through, but I'd like to think that this was somewhat healing for her. You can feel the pain, but also strength in her words.
I hope everyone takes a chance on this rather different and completely unconventional love story.
We can always depend on Staci Hart to write heroines that we'll absolutely love and relate to on so many levels!
Everyone, The Red Lipstick Coalition has returned and they're coming in hot and fierce! To be honest, I'd be more than happy to just have an entire about surrounding this amazing and beautiful girl tribe. I want them in my life forever and it's one thing that I absolutely can't wait for when it comes to this series. They're seriously the best group of gals to ALWAYS have on your side!
Besides the epic love story that we get, these stories will send a message and empower you in some sort of way. To love yourself for being exactly who you are. Who cares what anyone thinks of you … I could share several words with people who have something bad to say about me. But you know, gotta take the high road sometimes. Other than that, you will absolutely be inspired by this!
Okay, the loveeeeee. I'll be honest and say I was a bit nervous about Sam, anything with a bet never ends well. And despite his growing feelings towards Val, I just wanted to punch him and yell , "tell Val the truth". A player was the perfect word to describe with his charms and looks. It's so easy to see why anyone would fall for him. But he also was a genuinely nice guy! I loved how he treated Val and was constantly supporting her.
Val totally made this book for me! Like I mentioned early, she's a character we can all relate to. She's just so pure and has a heart of gold. It's okay to be totally fierce and badass, and also have insecurities. It makes us human. I think we all can see a little bit of ourselves in Val.
I really enjoyed the music and dancing elements that Staci brought into this book. It made everything so much more lively. I am an orchestra nerd, so I get super excited whenever I read a book that has this in it.
Absolutely enjoyed this read! Can't wait for the next one in this amazing series!...more
The Royal Runaway was a first time read from this author and I enjoyed this story full of twists and turns! I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting myself into when I decided to pick this one up. It was pretty low on the romance, but I quickly realized there was more to the story than Princess Theodora finding love. It was time for her to pave the path of her future.
The blurb is what sucked me into this book, I was so intrigued and couldn't wait to start as soon as it landed on my kindle. Who in their right mind would leave a princess at the altar?! Crazy, I tell ya. And that was just the beginning of a journey to find out the truth about the disappearance of her ex-fiance alongside a rather sexy Scot named Nick.
I absolutely adored Thea, she craved nothing more than to put duty aside and be her own person. To be free to do whatever she wanted to do, to have that bit of freedom. As the story progresses, we see a bit of her naivety fall away and the truth surrounding people she has known for most of her life, even her family. And that's when she started to take control back in her hands and do what she can to protect her people and country. I really loved witnessing her journey of coming from a low point and picking herself back up again into a much stronger person.
Nick was always quite a mystery throughout this entire book, I was curious about his true motives. It was evident that there was something strong between them, but he rarely let up about it. He made it pretty obvious that he was fighting his attraction towards Thea also while trying to stay on task of what he was trying to do, but you can only push for so long. I'm not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed with the clean romance in this one, but I know soooo many out there will appreciate that fact. It was still enough for me to just fall in love with these two!
I loved watching the growth in Thea, someone who grew to be a much stronger leader for her country. There were some moments in the middle that felt like things were moving a bit slowly, but it picked up right away to get you to the end.
From the adventure, the journey towards strength and confidence and the bits of love in between, made for a very enjoyable read! I'll definitely look forward to reading more from this author.
Major thanks to Gallery Books and Netgalley for the advanced reader's copy!
OK ... I feel like I'm at war with myself because I absolutely wanted to love this book so much because I love the author soooo much, but it wasn't quite there for me. I'm fairly new to Samantha Young's books and I lovedthe two that I've read by her.
I truly love reading enemies to lovers romances, but the hate was more strong in the beginning than I expected it to be. And most of it was coming from the hero, Caleb. It's to be expected with this trope that the hero is usually the a-hole, but his hate was nearly on a level of its' own and that had me completely appalled by him. It'll keep you wondering how the heck he'll be able to redeem himself by the end, so that was a huge factor that made keep going as well because I wanted to know how Ava would completely capture his heart. There's hope for everyone, even this major [ insert whatever word seems fitting ].
Once you get past their many unexpected encounters and their spitfire towards one another, we dig deeper into each of their stories. And they're both extremely heartbreaking in different ways. Ava and Caleb are no strangers to heartbreak and that pulled at mine completely. With Ava being betrayed by the two people that she loved the most in her life and essentially building this huge barrier between everyone she has known in her life. And don't even get me started on her parents who were never there for her.
I think this was one of my turning points for Caleb's character was when we learn a bit more of his backstory, but it still wasn't enough for me to forgive his rudeness. But you can definitely sense the bitterness that he has taken on from his past. Sadly, it was enough for him to treat every woman that looked like his past like trash.
One of my favorite parts of the book was Ava and Harper's friendship! It's definitely something everyone should have in their life, a solid support that will always be on your side. And they would also be your voice of reason. I know I'm not alone on this, but I want Harper to have her own book. I loved her character a lot!
I have no idea how Ava was able to deal with Caleb antics and how she was a bit quick to forgive him, when he essentially hurt her in such a way that seems nearly impossible to forgive.
Despite certain things that I didn't like here and there, Samantha has a way with her words that keep you absolutely addicted to everything on the page. I still finished this in one sitting and found myself completely enamored the whole time. I just couldn't find any redeeming qualities in Caleb.
This may not have been my favorite of Samantha's, but you may love it, so I'd still give this a try!
Major thank you to Berkley and Netgalley for the advanced reader's copy!
The Cane series has been one of my most anticipated series this year! And it's definitely become my favorite set of taboo books since I don't read them that often. Even though there's another book coming after this, I thought everything was tied up rather nicely by the end.
If you've been reading this series then you know how much of a killer that cliffhanger was in the last book! Thankfully Loving Mr. Cane picks up right from that point and I was just biting at the bit to know everything that happened following that little incident. I had a hunch about what Kandy was going to do even though it absolutely killed me because ... CANE! But of course, everything that followed needed to happen, with Kandy suffering such a traumatic ordeal that left not only physical scars but emotional ones as well. She had a tough journey ahead of her.
My goodness, the drama was really cranked up in this one! A new to me character pops up and kind of stirs the pot or maybe lights a fire under Cane's ass. It had me on the edge of my seat waiting for something huge to happen. I haven't read Shanora's previous series where El Jefe is featured, but as of right now, all my thoughts lead to not really liking the guy at all. But he makes it pretty clear in just his presence alone that he's not to be messed with, PERIOD.
I adored Candy in this one, she went through hell and fought her way back out of there. I loved that she put herself first and took a step back to really take everything in around her especially her relationship with Cane. I definitely understood her reasons, but I wasn't a huge fan of her doubts towards Cane. That man would go to the ends of the world to protect her and there's no if, ands/buts about it. But as we all know, Cane isn't perfect, he has a dark past that not many would be proud of, but I appreciated the fact that he was able to get himself out of a sticky situation. Sorta?! I think that man will always be tied to El Jefe and that is something I would never want lingering on my shoulders.
I might be the only one that thinks this, but this one didn't feel very taboo at all like it was in the previous books. Despite Kandy's parents still not liking the fact that she is with Cane, she was very firm on her decision to be with him because he ultimately made her happy. It was still tough to see the relationship between Kandy and her parents and it had me screaming, she's happy, let her be. But I know, easier said than done!
Shanora does it again, she had my hanging onto every word as I was making my way towards the end! I can't wait until 3.5 and see what's to come of Cane and Kandy!...more
Oh wow! I read this book with zero expectations and even if I did have them, Fiore would have bypassed them all effortlessly! The Gathering was a first time read by this author. And I'll be honest and say that I was totally judging the book by its cover in the best possible way. And then I was sold once I read the synopsis!
Fiore blew me away this one and I just can't stop thinking about it. Plus, I was left completely hungry for more.
First of all, don't start this at night... I didn't expect to be scared as I was reading and well I sure was in for a treat. But I surprised myself because I kept reading, all while checking every corner of my room. And that's just one thing to touch on, despite some things I may not like to read in a book, she has that ability to keep you captivated and wanting to read more.
This book really did cover everything that I love in a PNR/romance without things going overboard and getting all jumbled. This story deals with the past, present and future. I was so in awe in how Fiore was able to weave this haunting, suspenseful, and romantic tale together so perfectly.
Ivy really pulled me in from the very beginning. Between her thoughts and dreams, all are just snippets of what she can't quite piece together, but they're all extremely familiar like it was a long lost friend. I'm not going to lie, I was begging for the romance part to kick in sooner than later. But in the end, I can't say that I didn't mind the pace she chose for their love story.
Because Ivy and Bain's love story is something that has surpassed time, lifetimes even. It's raw, emotional and never-ending. Not even death can keep them apart. It's actually quite tragic the journey of love has taken them on. But all so very beautiful and amazing.
The mystery and suspense, just adds on another level that keeps you hooked! While Ivy is trying to piece the happenings in her town, she's got memories to work through as well. Everything is part of a bigger picture that she hasn't figured out yet. And the balance of the world is thrown off and she may be the answer to it all.
I'm telling you, it's nearly impossible to write a spoiler-free review. So much happens and it all ties up rather nicely in the end. Bain and Ivy are EVERYTHING. And it has been a while where I've been completely engrossed in two character's love for one another. It's so deep that you will literally feel it to the depths of your soul.
Fiore, you wrote a damn amazing book! I'm such a fan and can't wait for the next one!
I refuse to give up on this series, I don't exactly know what it is, but I haven't been connecting to this series like I want to. The stories are definitely enjoyable, but they seem to be lacking a bit of something.
Now I'm a huge fan of Jennifer Probst, I absolutely adore her Marriage to a Billionaire series, it's one of my favorites and I'll still read anything that she writes. So don't let this review make you think otherwise.
I'm a sucker for second chance romances, so I couldn't wait to dive into this one. And I'd say young love and different dreams (at the time) is what really set them apart for so many years.
Kyle frustrated me a bit to no end, I wasn't quite a fan of his tactics to win Ophelia back. He just implanted himself back in her life and it wasn't really smooth at all. A bit annoying if you ask me, but you can't fault a guy for being persistent towards what he wants. He was going to make her his end game.
I was hoping for more of connection between Ophelia and Kyle, I just didn't see it. And I think the plot needed something a little bit more.
I'm still not giving up on this series, I will see it through to the very end!
Major thanks to Montlake Romance & InkslingerPR for the advance reader's copy!
