His cousin, Lord Williams, starts to interfere, which annoys her. Things only get more frustrating for her after that weekend and she needs to figure out what kind of man she really wants.
I loved everything about this book--the setting, the characters, the interactions between Margaret and Lord Williams (really, interactions between all of the characters), and the pace of the story since I couldn’t put it down. I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. This is a fantastic debut novel, and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Garriott’s books in the future. I highly recommend “Promised” to anyone that enjoys clean Regency romance!

I love I love suspense and was excited to hear that four of my favorite authors were collaborating on this book! I am glad that it didn't disappoint. I love full-length novels since I get a better feel for the characters, but I also love novellas because the stories move along quickly so they really hold my attention. I also love that I can read a story in one sitting, and have another one to look forward to the next time I sit down. I wanted to keep reading these, but also wanted the book to last.
I enjoyed how different each of these stories were. Even though they were novellas, I was invested in the characters and enjoyed getting to know them. There were twists and turns and surprises as well. This is a book I will definitely read again. Whether or not you are familiar with these authors, if you enjoy suspense, this is a book you will definitely want to read!

I was intrigued when the author, Ryan Nelson, contacted me about a sequel and interested to see how it would be accomplished.
I am pleased to say that this book didn't disappoint! It takes place four years after the first book. Agent Alex Travis, Kate, and Jack are surprised to learn about a loose end in the bank robbery case they were all involved in. They are thrown into a situation they weren't prepared for and need to adjust quickly in order to survive.
I loved the pacing! I kept turning the pages quickly to learn what would happen next. This book is just as intense as the first book. The characters have to deal with some tough situations and I wasn't sure how they would get out of some of them. I liked the balance the author struck between making what they went through realistic without making it too difficult to read.
I would recommend both of these books to anyone that enjoys mystery/suspense. The author includes history of the Cache Valley area, which I'm not familiar with, but found interesting. I look forward to reading more of Ryan Nelson's work in the future!

FBI Agent Alex Travis has inherited a cold case of a bank robbery which happened in Cache County two years ago. After receiving an anonymous tip, he meets a man by the name of Jack Pepper. Jack has quite a story to tell, involving bank robbers and his girlfriend, Kate.
One word describes this story: Intense! From the moment Agent Travis met Jack, this story didn't let up. We learned Jack and Kate's story, both their history together and where they are now, from a very long conversation between Agent Travis and Jack. I'm not always a fan of that, but thought it worked well for this type of book. We also learn about the dangerous bank robbers. The leader, Eddie, is especially ruthless and has unfinished business with Jack. There are some tough scenes to read, especially when Eddie turns his interest to Kate in order to get Jack to cooperate.
This is a fast-paced, entertaining read which I enjoyed from beginning to end! The main characters are flawed but likable and easy to root for. The villains are ruthless and easy to root against. It's well-researched and includes some history of the area, which I thought was interesting. I highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys an intense, action-packed mystery!

Someone is targeting one of the girls and it's his job to figure out who and why.
This book started out fast and didn't let up! I enjoyed getting to know Bai Tsu. He's smart, tough and has a great sense of humor. He was under the impression that his current assignment would be easy, so of course, it turned out to be complex. There were some secondary characters that we met who played a pivotal part in the story and there were times that I wasn't sure who to trust.
This was a fun read from beginning to end! There's lots of action and humor. There were also some twists and turns which kept it interesting. Part of it takes place in North Korea, where Bai was tested both physically and mentally. If you enjoy thrillers, this is a book and series you will want to read!

Jayden and Kadesh just want to be together but there are forces keeping them apart, and things they still need to accomplish. Jayden is a fighter and is willing to do whatever she needs to in order to put an end to the madness that Horeb and Aliyah have created. Kadesh is worried for her safety but realizes she is headstrong and not going to back down.
This is a series that needs to be read from the beginning to understand what is going on. The plot has been building and I was glad to get some resolution. I loved the characters, setting, and the pacing. Not everything turned out happy, which is actually what I expected. There is some violence and human sacrifice. This is a series I will enjoy reading again!

She's 17 years old, lonely and bored. Her mother died some years ago, and neither her father nor aunt will talk about her. She feels like she's tolerated rather than loved. Her political leanings are different than her father's but she keeps her opinions to herself to keep the peace in her home. Life gets more interesting for her when Samuel Brown, a reformer who writes for the Times, moves in next door. The more she learns about him, the more she knows he is the perfect match for her. She just needs to get him to see her that way.
I enjoyed this book and getting to know the characters! It was fun to watch Mary's character develop and grow throughout the book. I got a chuckle out of the way her father and Samuel treated each other. The matchmaker, Pearl, appeared as Mrs. Chin. She played a subtle role in this story and was able to steer Mary in the right direction. And then there's Neil, Samuel's best friend who is determined to keep Mary away from Samuel. I loved how the story progressed and the twists that were thrown in to keep it interesting!
This is the final installment in the Matchmaker series. I'm sad to see it come to an end and hope to see more of this type of collaboration in the future. It's been fun to find some new authors along the way, including this one. I enjoyed her writing style and will definitely read more of her work in the future!

She's not upset over his death and we eventually learn why. Brian is a defense attorney working a special case for the DA's office when he meets Holly. He's still hung up on a former girlfriend so he's not looking for a relationship but Holly quickly gets under his skin.
This is one of those books that I'm mixed about. What I liked about it is that Brian and Holly are two very flawed, complex characters who are drawn to each other, but also have a hard time understanding each other so things get messy at times. I also liked the mystery and suspense aspect and how the case kept bringing them into contact with each other. There were some other great characters that I liked as well.
I didn't like that it was pretty heavy on the innuendo. We get a clear picture of what Brian is thinking most of the time and it was a bit much for my personal taste. There aren't any graphic sex scenes but there is an attempted rape and plenty of sex talk. There was a bit more language than what I prefer as well.
I didn't read the first book in this series, and felt like this book stands well on its own. There's enough background given to help the reader understand what's happened in the past. Even though it talks about Christmas in the title, I wouldn't necessarily consider this a Christmas read and it can be enjoyed any time of year. While it wasn't my personal favorite, I thought it was fast-paced and well written. I've read one other book by this author and loved it so I look forward to reading more of her work in the future!

Bits and pieces of Jack's story were revealed throughout the other books and this is where we get the final pieces and understand what his quest has been about.
Jack and his friends have their toughest challenge yet--to obtain the remaining two Jerusalem Stones and then attempt to defeat Ren Lucre in battle. It seems impossible to accomplish and they will need help in order to be successful. I loved how this story unfolded! Jack and his friends have a strong bond and stay loyal to each other, even when they're not sure how that will affect the outcome of their battle.
The series takes place within one year and what an action packed, adventurous year it has been! I would highly recommend reading it from the beginning so you can get to know the characters and their interactions with each other, as well as the complete story. Eve lives on a sheep farm with her father and brother and is in love with her father's hired hand, Alan. She plans to marry him but questions that decision when she meets Jonathon Doran, a wealthy land owner who is twelve years older than her. When Alan heads off to war, there's a major crisis on the farm which prompts her to call Jonathon for help.
This story is told in journal format. Eve has recently received a typewriter and shares her thoughts and feelings about what is happening. There's some humor as she tries to figure out her feelings between Alan and Jonathon. She has a best friend named Theo who was a fun character to get to know, along with her love interest. I enjoyed all of the characters and was surprised to find my opinion of a few of them to be different by the end of the book.
My only complaint is that it's part of the Matchmaker series and Pearl wasn't really involved. She played a small role (only appearing twice towards the end) and I didn't feel that she guided Eve one way or the other. The romance is light and, since Eve's young, there's more of a coming-of-age feel to this story, which I enjoyed. This is the second book I've read by this author and I really enjoy her writing style. I look forward to reading more from her in the future!

In 1927, Calvin Coolidge offered the first official presidential Christmas greeting to the country. His message was short but powerful: "Christmas is In 1927, Calvin Coolidge offered the first official presidential Christmas greeting to the country. His message was short but powerful: "Christmas is not a time or a season but a state of mind. To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. If we think on these things there will be born in us a Savior and over us all will shine a star--sending its gleam of hope to the world." That set the tone of the book for me and I was interested in what the other presidents had to say.
I like how there is historical background given to remind us of what was happening in the country during the time of each president and how his message would relate to that. Some of the messages apply no matter when they were given. I also loved President Reagan's message. His was one of the longer ones. He spoke about the spirit of solidarity and referred specifically to the struggles Poland was going through at that time. I was young when this happened and don't remember it so I found it interesting to read about.
This is the perfect book to keep on display during Christmas. It's high quality and easy to pick up and read a little bit at a time or just flip through to look at the wonderful illustrations. It's a great reminder that no matter how different we are, Christmas is a time to come together in love, faith, reflection and charity!

Annette Downing and her two younger brothers are orphans being raised by an aunt who has lost all patience for them since the boys are a bit rowdy. She sends them to live with the Kellaway's, who were close friends of their parents, telling Annette that if the boys don't learn how to behave, they will be sent to an orphanage. Annette reunites with Owen Kellaway, who was a mischievous boy himself, and has to continually remind herself not to fall in love with him.
Annette is an easy character to like. Her aunt hasn't treated her or her brothers very well so she's happy to leave for a while. She loves her brothers and, while she wants them to behave, she also wants to allow them to be boys. Her brothers were funny and did cause a bit of trouble. It was good to see the changes in them once they were in a safer environment. Owen is a charming hero. He took to the boys right away and never made any of them feel unwelcome. I enjoyed Owen and Annette's relationship and thought they had great chemistry!
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end! There were some plot twists which kept it from being too predictable and kept me reading one more chapter until I was done. If you enjoy clean, regency romance with a little bit of mystery, this is a book you will want to read! It's a strong debut novel from this author and I am looking forward to reading more from her in the future!

Eli has come back as part of a task force involving drug trafficking, along with his friend, Gale, but can't tell Aubrey why he's really there. They still have plenty of chemistry and he wants a second chance with her, but, based on their past history, she's having a hard time trusting him.
I love second chance love stories and this one delivered! Eli and Aubrey were easy to cheer for but they had some issues to overcome. Eli starts to question the reasons he left in the first place and has to resolve his feelings for someone close to Aubrey. Aubrey still has strong feelings for Eli, but he's repeating the old patterns that tore them apart the first time.
Pacific Cove is a great community with some fun events planned around Christmas so this was a perfect time of year to read this book. Aubrey played a huge role in that so there were some fun scenes that brought her and Eli together. There were other great characters that I enjoyed getting to know and hope to see certain ones in the sequel, which I'm already looking forward to reading! If you enjoy clean, second chance love stories with a mystery to solve, this is a book you will definitely want to pick up!

With the help of Vincent, his Smart Watch, he is able to figure out his identity and re-enters his life, not letting many people know the truth of his condition.
I enjoyed this book! Since Cal couldn't remember anything, the book centered around him figuring out why his memories were wiped clean and who he could trust. He could remember that he was on Daedalus, an orbital colony, and it was interesting to learn more about that. His Smart Watch, Vincent, was able to tell him his name, where he worked as well as his job title, and that he was married, among other things. Vincent was more than just a computer and they had some fun interactions.
I thought this was a good blend of mystery and science-fiction. I'm more of a mystery fan and liked how Cal worked to solve the mystery of who he was and what he knew. He met quite a few characters along the way and it was interesting to see where they all fit into his story. This book held my attention from the beginning and I liked how everything came together in the end. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!

It takes place during a dark and dreary time (WWII), but the underlying message is hope. It's about a soldier who heads home to Poland, but he has no memory in the beginning of who he is. There is someone, however, who knows exactly who he is, so his life is in danger. As his memory slowly returns, he realizes that someone is after him, and it becomes a race for him to get to the refuge train before he is found.
There are quite a few characters introduced in the beginning so it's a little slower, but the pace quickly picks up and it was hard to put down. The tension built as we were able to see the story from several different viewpoints and it became a race to a certain location.
The author's descriptions of life during that time were so realistic that I felt like I was there, feeling the fear and devastation the people must have felt. It's a somber book yet it doesn't feel too heavy and illustrates the power of courage and hope. I enjoyed getting to know each of the characters and their back stories which helped to understand why they were behaving in certain ways. This book is well-written and eye-opening and it will stay with me for a while.

Once more was revealed, I became hooked as I tried to figure out where the story was going and who Raul could trust. Raul is a boy of few words so we mostly get to know him through his thoughts and actions.

The date is coming when they promised to meet up if they were each still unattached and a lot has changed during that time. I loved the leadup to their reunion and the sigh-worthy ending!
Even though the stories are short, they feel complete. The characters and situations are so different and I enjoyed each one of them. I loved how faith and belief in God played an important role in each of their stories. This is the type of book you can enjoy in bits and pieces or all at once. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading clean, historical romance!

It was a difficult time and there were tears in our eyes as we read certain parts. They have been living in a submarine with their scientist parents and leave them to attend school on a ship called the Tobermory. They quickly make some new friends, as well as some enemies, and realize that life on a ship is very different than that on a submarine.
I read this book with my children and we all enjoyed it! Ben and Fee were easy characters to like. I'm not familiar with sailing at all so I enjoyed learning about life on a ship along with them. There were a couple of mysteries to solve and we had fun sharing our theories with each other before we learned what was really going on.

He learns that a monster named Yummy is after him since he is now the most delicious thing in the world. He sets off with his brother, Zeke, and sister, Mariah, to keep the rest of his family safe.

They also need to figure out who they can trust if they want to get out of some sticky situations. The location is creative--there's an entire city that is hard to find and so different than what they are used to.

Her thoughts on that had me laughing so I knew this would be a winner for me. She has an interview later that day with her brother's best friend, Owen. She also meets Lila Bradley, the daughter of the owner of the company, who is pampered and possessive of Owen. Eva, Juliet's sister, is involved in some drama. We get her love story with her missing fiance, Will, in bits and pieces.
I loved (most of) the characters in this book! It was nice to see how well Everett, Juliet and Eva got along and supported each other. As they got more involved with the mystery surrounding Will, it wasn't always clear who they could trust. Owen easily fit in with them and was attracted to Juliet, but there was a huge obstacle that needed to be taken care of first.

The sheriff, Rex Truett, is suspicious of Ruby's intentions yet finds himself drawn to her.
Ruby is a strong woman. Even though she's wealthy, she doesn't mind working hard. Due to the true identity of her father, she doesn't feel worthy of the respect she is shown. She especially doesn't believe that a relationship with Rex would ever work when he finds out the truth, so her plan is to leave town as soon as her work is done. I enjoyed how Ruby and Rex's relationship progressed and loved their interactions with each other! There are a couple of truths that are revealed to Rex, which gave him a choice whether to become bitter or not.
