Nick great review Kelly:)

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* LOL I'm not as much a fan girl as you are. I cancelled my hold. I want funny stuffs. :P Your review however was the bomb.-

message 10: by Jeff (new)

Jeff Great review!

Between her and Amy Sedaris I'm *speechless*

If you want a really funny memoir by a former SNLer, I recommend Girl Walks into a Bar . . .: Comedy Calamities, Dating Disasters, and a Midlife Miracle. Dratch is hilarious. I read that one when I first got super active on Goodreads and gave it a mediocre rating and no review. I think I need to re-read it and give it the kudos I now know it deserves.

Thanks Jeff!

(And if you didn't notice, one of my updates was how there was a JEFF GOLDBLUM reference in this book. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!)

Brent Taylor If you haven't paid attention to Jimmy Fallon, in the back on drums, watch it again. He has to hide because he is laughing so much. I miss those moments of his like that on SNL.

message 19: by Brent (new)

Brent Taylor And I am a big fan of her and Nick Offerman. Together in Parks and Rec. they are brilliant!

Kelly (and the Book Boar) Brent wrote: "If you haven't paid attention to Jimmy Fallon, in the back on drums, watch it again. He has to hide because he is laughing so much. I miss those moments of his like that on SNL."

They replayed the Fallon/Justin Timberlake Christmas episode from last year (or the year before) a couple weeks ago. I thought I was going to wet my pants. Neither of them could keep it together.

Kelly (and the Book Boar) Brent wrote: "And I am a big fan of her and Nick Offerman. Together in Parks and Rec. they are brilliant!"

I have a horrible feeling he's REALLY a douche and doesn't just play one on T.V. (hence the reason why I can't watch The League). I hope that's not the case.

message 22: by Brent (new)

Brent Taylor I didn't know Nick Offerman was in The League?

Kelly (and the Book Boar) Brent wrote: "I didn't know Nick Offerman was in The League?"

My brain replaced Offerman with Kroll (Poehler's real life boyfriend who played "The Douche" occasionally on Parks and Rec). My apologies. I think I still have vacation brain.

message 24: by Brent (new)

Brent Taylor I concur Kroll is a douche. I was worried you thought the man with the greatest mustache was a douche. Lol

Kelly (and the Book Boar) No, I love Offerman (so much so that I'm afraid to read his book in case I hate it).

message 26: by Brent (new)

Brent Taylor I really enjoyed it. I vote yes, give it a chance.

Kelly (and the Book Boar) Alright - it's on the list. I'll give it a go in the near future.

message 28: by Cathryn (new)

Cathryn I really enjoyed this book and actually liked the parts where she wasn't trying to be funny better.

Kelly (and the Book Boar) Once I got past the idea it wasn't supposed to be a laugh a minute I did too, Cathryn.

message 30: by Cathryn (new)

Cathryn Yeah, I haven't read any of the other SNL alumni books so I didn't have anything to compare it too. I'd like to read Tina Fey's book and Dratchs' book.

I'd also like to read one that goes into more detail about the behind the scenes of the improv world. I found those parts really interesting.

Kelly (and the Book Boar) I thought both of those were extremely funny.

message 32: by Yodamom (new)

Yodamom great review ! I am so excited I have this on audio and was putting off for a while. I'm pushing it up my list now

Kelly (and the Book Boar) Thank Yodamom - just go in knowing it's not hilarious and you'll probably enjoy it : )

message 34: by Yodamom (new)

Yodamom Thanks for the heads up I did expect funny when I ordered it. I don't care. I love her and want to hear what she has to say
