Great movie indeed.
Thanks for your enthusiastic review. I have only read one SK --- the novella, The Body, turned into the film 'Stand By Me.' On the strength of your recommendation, I'll try this novel at some point.

Looks like this is the audio-book, correct? So, this isn't such a long novel, unlike a good number of his others?

Actually it is a novella. Just 130 pages long.

Great! I should be able to get to this in the next few weeks.

True that. I'd already seen the movie at least 60 times, and after that I read this novella and was overwhelmed. It's such a moving tale that you just can't stop loving it.
Great review, Sanjay! I'm currently reading the novella and being half-way through, I'm already sure it will get a five-star-rating. It's a wonderfully moving and inspiring story.

Thank you, Councillor. Great to hear that you're already liking this wonderfully written and inspiring story. :)

Thank you, Simon. It's a great book, which in my opinion, no one can help but love.
Sanjay, what a fine review this one is. Once again, I'm late to the party. But, I'm glad I finally made it before it was lights out!
I like how you don't figure out that the book is going to be about internal hope and redemption until the very end when he escapes

That is true: in fact, it makes you read him even more. Thanks for stopping by, Arah.

Thanks. In my opinion, both are equally moving, but it is the movie that has an upper edge: giving the film (and consequently the story) that feeling of grandeur. But this novella's strength lies in its prose, which is of another level entirely (or so I've felt).
