Heleen Amen.

Nattaya I think our reviews are alike. :)

Teeliles I want to see the movie, and put the book on my to-read list; but before I buy, I like to check out the folks who've rated a novel less than three stars, just to get an opposing viewpoint. If nothing else, I have a pet peeve about characters who speak so formally that they do not use contractions. They are so stilted! One of the many reasons I love Goodreads: I now know to borrow this book from the library and not spend my money just yet!

Kate Malia completely agreed!

I totally agree. I could NOT even get through the kindle sample because he annoyed the crap out of me. Relieved I'm not the only one

message 6: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy I agree. Mentally ill isnt the same as mentally slow but he described his feelings like a child. I noticed the contraction thing too. I think people are just being pretentious with the high ratings. Maybe they just assume the smart people like it so it must be the smart thing to do.

Melissa Couldn't agree more! I hated this book. It started off with fairly interesting characters, then grew so incredibly repetitive (and boring in its repetitiveness) I had to force myself to finish it. My bipolar friends don't write like 4th graders, they are incredibly intelligent, sharp, and clever. This book is a disservice to romantic relationships and to the mentally ill community.

Hannah Rose Mallon Can't agree with you enough, so badly written.

message 9: by Tonya (new)

Tonya I agree with you as well! I loved the movie, but the book.... Good grief!!!!

message 10: by Rose Ann (new)

Rose Ann Amy, we must think alike, I went straight to "The Scarlet Letter"!

message 11: by Amy (new)

Amy Lipkin Agreed!!!

message 12: by Tonya (new)

Tonya Boy, you nailed that one right. I was so disappointed in this book after seeing the movie which was great. Usually books are so much better than the movie. Not in this case!

message 13: by Edson (new)

Edson Filho I couldn't agree more!

message 14: by Sara (new)

Sara Same page here. Just trying to finish so I can watch the movie again!

message 15: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Just read it in an afternoon. I loved it. Expressly written this way because that's how the character's mind processes his experience. Bettet than the movie, which was also good, but was wrapped in that neat little American feel-good package.

message 16: by Kate (new)

Kate I couldn't agree more. So hyped up, such a let down.
