Alahna aahh after reading that shitty excuse for ya mythology (the goddess test) I'm excited about this! Maybe I'll go get it from my library to cleanse my mind of the idea that Zeus "does not abide lust". wonderful review!!!

Leah Alvord That review is hilarious!

Natalie Monroe @TL & Leah, Thank you, darlings!

@Alahna I really hope you like Antigoddess! The gods here are freaking ruthless. Just as they should.

I still haven't gotten over Hades, the fucking god of the underworld and niece-kidnapping stalker, being a virgin in The Goddess Test. Lust is practically a prerequisite of being a god and they made it a freaking sin. Like what the actual fuck.

Vanessa J. What? Did I read that correctly? Lust a SIN for greek gods? Huh. I'm glad I avoided that book. On the other hand, I really want to read this! I need more mythology in YA!

Vanessa J. P.S.: Please tell me that at least the gids in here stay a little true to the original greek mythology. I want them BAD, as they are. If they're like I've heard they are in The Goddess Test, then I'd rather stay away.

The Goddess Test made lust a freaking sin. Along with the others, greed, pride, etc. They mixed Christian values with Greek mythology. It's ridiculous.

The gods here are awesome. Athena does a lot of morally questionable shit, just like in the original tales. The only thing you might find displeasing is Athena's semi-romance with Odyssess, seeing as she's a maiden goddess. It doesn't take up a lot of the narrative though, and I've read some accounts of Athena having a child with Odyssess, so it's not that implausible. .

Vanessa J. Is this better than Anna? I liked Anna, but a monster called insta-love ruined what could have been a higher rating.

message 14: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa J. If yes, I'm excited because I love greek mythology!

Miles better. I was pretty meh about Anna for the same reason. "Whoa, there's a freaky ghost who just ripped off someone's head! Be still, my beating heart."
