Ellie Loved your review, Henry.

This is not my favorite Shakespeare but it is a beautiful and sweet love story with lots of Shakespeare's gorgeous writing. I've been rereading some Shakespeare. King Lear remains my favorite with Hamlet and Macbeth (and then Othello) close behind. They feel more complex than R&J.

I recently saw a production of R&J adapted by students with special needs. Although it was a very amateur production the beauty of the play still came through, especially in the quotes they used. And the students really loved and related to the story. We taught it to our students (also with special needs) a few years ago and again the students really loved it, despite the difficulty of the language (we also showed the film and read some adaptations to help them understand but still, they were deeply engaged with it which shows the power of Shakespeare across time and varying levels of sophistication in reading.

He did write for the populace!

Henry Avila That is quite true , a talented artist who could relate to the common people...Ellie.

Evelyn Mercado I agree with what you said in the beginning about how William Shakespeare uses strong word to symbolize their love for one another. Your right when you said that their love was temporary but their death was forever and they didn' t really think about the consequences.

An excellent, passionate review, Henry.
Now I will follow my pursuit of this one. Loved your observations on this love story. Romeo and Juliet were wishers and wishers according to Shakespeare were ever fool, they acted on their impulses and that drove them to take action in the face of danger.
