Sai great review, you've said what I thought (though I'm not great at articulating) I like your view that the criticism of the language and themes used is a view that the characters Shirley and Howard would share, that made me chuckle.

Bettyjeanyoungyahoo.com Great review. I too found myself cheering for Tessa, Krystal, Sukvinder, and the Price boys. My heart broke when we discovered Terri's story. Yes, JK had a story to tell whether we liked it or not.

Tiffany Gagliardi Can I just say that your review was so well written? I loved your comparison of The Casual Vacancy to Of Mice and Men. Can't wait to read this now!

Issy You are all so lovely! Thank you very much; I highly recommend this novel (especially if you're currently in the mood to read a character-driven story). Enjoy!

Daniel If you truly are 17 then you have already surpassed the maturity and literacy (and ability to form a respectable opinion) of most of the American population. Congratulations. Seriously.

TS Tan I totally agree with your great review. And Issy I think you are a very old 17! It seems that the only admirable male character in the book is the very dead Barry Fairbrother, and what a last name, but even to Mary he was a let down in his last days.

Amber Oh, thank you so much for actually posting a sensible review not based on Barry vs. Harry fangirlisms. I think you've earned yourself a follower.

Linds Don't take this the wrong way, but I was surprised that a seventeen year old wrote this review. You are a much more insightful reader and articulate writer than most adults.

Rose Please name a good thing that happens in the book? I think it's extremely well-written but it's just too bleak and hopeless for me.

Michael Gridley Excellent review of a very good book. Thank you.
