The classics on prayer have impacted me far, far more than any of the modern books I've read.
Richard Foster's book on Prayer is probably the one that has had the greatest impact on me. I would not say it is my favorite, (Ravenhill has that honor) but it was the right book for the right time of my life. At about 30 years old now it is too old to be considered contemporary but far too new to be a classic.

I read Foster's book on meditative prayer, but not his other book on prayer. I'll add it to my list. I thought A Call to Prayer was very good.
