I liked the Benedict Arnold kidnap side-story too. I wondered how he could continue in New York after his betrayal! It seemed to me that someone would take him out!
It is very interesting. I have not found a book yet that really deals with the aftermath and even the biographies I have read don't talk about the kidnapping attempt. I am with you though that it is surprising more efforts like this one or even outright assassination were not attempted.
