Sadly not Jill. I do most of the cleaning and there usually seem to be far more interesting ways to spend time.

JZ Yeah, my husband decided to teach me all about using newspaper instead of soft cloth - on our new acrylic storm door panel. All of a sudden, we had translucent plastic instead of clear plastic. Newspaper scratches really efficiently.
Black ink came off and stained the white paint around the glass on the other windows.
Dishwashing liquid soap is meant to leave glass clean, without streaks. In hot water, with a sponge or old t-shirt rags, it works miracles, and can be dried with a tea towel, just like your fine stemware, if you are that committed. YMMV
Don't believe everything a monk tells you about cleanliness.

Nigeyb Thanks JZ. I've never tried the newspaper tip for glass so will be wary when the time comes

JZ I think that it was a Depression tip. My mother used it until she could afford 'Windex' and paper towels.
