Carrie Gotta watch those thrillers. :(

Judy I think I liked this one a little better than you Carrie. I liked the character Alice Vega and I really like Max Caplan too - he seems like such a stand-up guy.

I did definitely like Max, great guy. I just didn't love the Max/Vega parts and didn't connect well to Vega at all really. Most people seem to be loving it though so it's a just me thing really. :)

Dorie - Traveling Sister :) Carrie I'm in about three quarters of the way and I was just thinking what you said above "it is incredibly heavy on the dialogue, pages and pages of conversations, etc" I keep reading and then thinking, when are you going to get back to what is really going on here. It's even confused me a few times, but it's good enough that I'll continue.

Yes, there just seemed to be too many times it included things that really could have been skipped. I haven't had any others that seem to want to include every little bit of meaningless conversations instead of advancing the story. Shame really because the plot was one that I found compelling but I also felt bogged down at times waiting for it to advance.

Trevor Great review! Just finished this one & agree with you on too much dialogue & the "romance" was slightly off-putting. While it was well written, I think the author got caught up in trying to make her debut stand out & the parts that should have been fleshed out weren't (Max & Vega took up way too much time), but I'm interested in seeing what she releases in the future.

Trevor Oops! Just noticed this wasn't a debut. 🤦‍♂️ I guess I've started to get in the habit of assuming mystery/thrillers are the go-to genre for debuts. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks Brooke! I have probably read at least 100+ books since this one too as I'm always reading and I still swear nothing else comes close to the amount of dialogue in this one, especially useless dialogue. With a little work this one could have been so much more.

Haha no worries, it does feel a bit like a first effort to me too and there's a lot of those coming out all the time.
