message 1: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Faulkenburg Completely agree. I hated this book. I should have rated it lower.

message 2: by Miranda (new)

Miranda Reads Haha - totally. If I wasn't so wrapped up in the twist, I have a feeling that I would've disliked it even more.

I'm still reeling over how she manages to cut off all means of escape by 'accident' - and those poor dogs!!

message 3: by AoF (new)

AoF Ack, it's always disappointing when the main character whines about stuff like love. Awesome review though, Miranda!

Thank you. At this point the whine-about-love thing feels like a staple in YA lit :(

message 5: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra Taylor Haha welcome to the world of teenage angst!

message 6: by Whitney (new)

Whitney I was baffled this won as many awards as it did. I used to work at Barnes & Noble and when people asked me about this book, I’d tell them to try it if they think they’d like the M. Night Shymalan version of a YA novel. The twist ticked me off, almost as much as the “my grandfather’s a racist! But I love this Indian boy to spite him!” Mess.

Lol. I'm horrified and delighted

Lisa I will avoid this at all costs! Thanks for the honest review.

message 12: by Shruti (new)

Shruti Loved the review ! I couldn't finish the book because of all the whining and it was getting boring also.

message 13: by James (new)

James Joyce Miranda wrote: "AND THIS!

Jesus. I want to touch the back of my throat with a finger, like it was a spoon, a stick, something so hard and unyielding my gag reflex can't leave it alone.

message 17: by Holly (new)

Holly Your audiobook comment made me laugh. I DNF this one myself.

message 18: by Apoorva (new)

Apoorva That's a funny review! I read it some time ago but I don't get why I didn't notice the angst!

I'm actually trying to avoid angst! I haven't read many YA this year. But, I bet if I were to read this now, I would definitely leave it unfinished. xD Anyway, I love reading your reviews. Good job!

message 22: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Thanks for the review. Saved me the trouble of trying to read this book. After the whining in Twilight, I just don't have patience for woosey weak and whiney characters.

message 23: by KAS (new)

KAS Sorry you didn’t love how much this character loved being in love, Miranda :( Does sounds like it would get very monotonous. Terrific review!! xoxo

message 24: by Divine (new)

Divine Anas I love that you wrote your review with the same kind of fragmented sentences the book does XD

message 25: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Faulkenburg I hated this book so much. For all of the reasons you describe. And it makes me laugh because I know a lot of people who really love it.

Julia Ash "I wanted to touch him like he was a bunny, a kitten, something so special and soft your fingertips can’t leave it alone."

That's a line that would have hurled me out of the book, raised the "hares" on my arms, and made me twitch my nose!!! Haha!

Great review, Miranda :)

message 32: by Miranda (new)

Miranda Reads Thanks Julia! And i love all your puns :p

Evgeny Nice review Miranda!

*~*~Fawkes, Padfoot, and Prongs~*~* I appreciate the fact that you are very ready to stand behind your ratings, and are not concerned at all by giving a book a very negative rating/review, if it deserves it!! I am most definitely the same way, and we are definitely on the same page!!!

message 39: by Marlizette (new)

Marlizette Badenhorst Thanks for saving me from what sounds like a mind-numbingly boring book! I promptly removed it from my to-read list. Life's too short to waste on mediocre books :)
