Kristen Thanks for the book rec's. I can't wait to see your thought about this book. Like you said, it's gotten great reviews and looks good.

message 2: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Yaay! I was hoping you would like the book. It's gotten such great reviews that I really want to read it.

message 3: by Karla (new)

Karla It is lending enabled. If you tell me what to do, I will lend it to you. Not quite sure how it works.

message 4: by Kristen (new)

Kristen I'm not sure how it works either. Lol. Never done it before. Is it YA? Would the book be something you'd let your 17 year old read?

message 5: by Karla (new)

Karla Absolutely!!! Very clean, a few yearnings, but nothing graphic. I think this would be a wonderful read for a 17 year old.

message 6: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Perfect! I'll buy this one. It's cheap. Then my daughter can read it, too. I'll try and figure out how to share books on the Kindle. I know that you're given two weeks to read the books, so that's good.

message 7: by Karla (new)

Karla I don't think you will regret it and you will read this one over again. We'll figure out the lending thing eventually! LOL!

message 8: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Oh no! I just read the review spoiler. I never can resist. Lol. I ruined it for myself didn't I? I can't WAIT to read this book. Just bought it. Yes. We will figure it out. One day. Lol.

Elizabeth (Liz) Karla - This is *perfect*!! Wonderful, well-written, spot-on review!

Thanks Elizabeth. I wasn't sure how to hide the spoiler without hiding the whole review. I hope that I don't ruin it for anybody, but I tried to give a head's up about it as best as I could.

No Kristen, you would have figured it out and it still is a wonderful book!

message 12: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Oh good. That makes me feel better.

message 13: by Elizabeth (Liz) (new)

Elizabeth (Liz) I've yet to find anyone who has read this who didn't almost immediately know what was going on. Really, it's the journey this story takes you on that's so special, rather than it simply hinging on one big moment.

The way you posted this review, Karla, allows people to read the spoilers or not. There's a choice. I see nothing wrong in that. Great review!

message 14: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Looks like I'll have to wait a few days to read this book. I told my daughter I bought it and she's heard her friend talk about it so she decided she should read it first. Lol.

message 15: by Karla (new)

Karla HA...that's pretty funny. At least you know you'll got your money's worth. I hope she enjoys it. Let me know what she thinks!

message 16: by Karla (new)

Karla OMG...you are putting me on the spot. Lol. Okay this one is different for sure. I adored this book. I'm not sure Alyssa. You shocked my when you loved Rock Me, because Brian was such a sweetheart, then you hated Defying the Odds, and Clay was a sweetie too. This is an unbelievably different romance, but there is no steam...no Kellan here, a true YA, but you might enjoy it because the story is very unique!

message 17: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Great review Karla. You had me tearing up just thinking about that ending!

Lindsay I definitely understand. I plan to tell my non-goodreads friends that the have to read it.

Lady Jayne *~*The Beach Bandida*~* Karla, I've read your spoiler portion now and I loved it! I totally agree with everything you said. Wonderful review! I wanted to say so much more about this amazing story and its characters but I was trying to be so careful not to have any spoilers in my review...but I have so much more I want to say! I can't stop thinking about it. *sighs* ^_^

Hi KatLynne, Oh, I’m sorry you are going through a tough time right now! *Hugs* Like Karla, if there’s anything I can do, please let me know. I will keep you in my prayers, dear friend.

Also, I wanted to say that there is an underlying sad event in this book, which you know from the “spoiler”, and which becomes pretty evident early on in the book - as a reader you think you know what’s going on, you’re pretty sure you know what’s going on, but you don’t know for sure 100% (especially all the details), until towards the end. But what I also wanted to say, this book is really humourous, and I think the author did an excellent job of handling the issues without bogging down the reader in sadness. It’s a captivating, mostly humorous book, with a poignancy to it, and when the secret is revealed, it does hit you even though you suspected all along. In fact, the suspicion adds a subtext and poignancy to certain communications within the story. You'll know what I'm talking about after reading Karla's "spoiler".

The story and characters will stick with me for a long time and I agree with Karla, it’s a MUST read. It was heartbreaking but also had me giddy with happiness, at the end. T'was a wonderful journey!

Karla, hope you didn’t mind my butting in! ^_^

KatLynne Thank you my sweet Jaynie and I hope you know I covet your prayers and good wishes:)

I feel embarrassed having to ask about this one. You and Karla have been so kind to take the time giving me more information. I really appreciate that!

You both are very special! Thanks again dear friend and I'm looking forward to reading this soon.

Life’s been pretty trying for me lately, so I’ve been coveting prayers of my own, don’t you worry *LOL*, and I’m happy to pay it forward, KatLynne dear. ^_^ I pray for comfort, peace, healing, strength and resilience for you, sweetie, whatever it may be. *Hugs*

Oh, and please don’t feel embarrassed! I think I can speak for Karla that we are more than happy to talk about this book! ^_^ It is just that wonderful and beautiful a book! You can’t help but be moved and inspired by it.

It inspired me, in that this college girl who moves in with a strange but welcoming family, changes her and she, in turn, changes them. I love how understanding Julie is and how she accepts Celeste’s eccentricities and “Flat Finn”, and she seeks to understand, but doesn’t really, because on one level, she can’t bear to see the truth. I could go on and on about this book, but I’ll stop. I look forward to seeing what you think when you read it. ^_^

Karla Hi girls, I love the conversation you lovelies are having...makes me smile. I agree with Jayne, KatLynne. There is loads of laughter in this book, and although there is underlying sadness, your heart will be full of love and warmth when you turn the last page. When you are ready Jayne and I will hold your hand and we will go on the Flat-Out Love journey together!

I mean it KatLynne...say the word, the phone is in my hand and we chat...I've done it before! I have unlimited long distance and Kristen introduced me to the wonderful world of Skype! We just do the audio, this way we can browse the web and chat at the same time! I love it and her.

Aww.. I love the hand holding pic, Karla!

Yes, KatLynne, we'll be here when you do read it! Just let me know when you're reading it and I'll make sure I pop in to GRs then!

And as Karla said: "your heart will be full of love and warmth when you turn the last page" .

Beautifully said, Karla! That's what I meant when I said I was giddy with happiness by the end. My heart was just so FULL. Just beautiful when a book can do that.

Karla, it makes me smile that you and Kristen have such a lovely friendship that started here on GRs.

*smiling* - You always make me smile Karla! I Love that picture! You are so kind and your offer to chat is simply amazing. Thank you for that.

It want be long before I'm able to jump into this wonderful book and I'm really looking forward to it. My only hesitation is the (view spoiler).

I've learned there is no rhyme or reason with grief. It rears it's ugly head whenever it so desires. My loss was a dear, dear friend and it's been six months. Her pain and suffering was tremendous along with loss of dignity and her distress over leaving her precious children. I thought I had it under control. It appears I don't and it's very difficult. So I'm temporarily avoiding those emotions in books:)

Thank you so much dear friend! You are the best!

♥Hugs♥

I'm truly sorry for your loss KatLynne. Don't put a time frame on your grief, just take it one day at a time.

Lady Jayne *~*The Beach Bandida*~* KatLynne, sweetie, I'm so sorry for your loss. There is indeed no rhyme or reason to grief. I cried several times a day, every day, when I lost my brother and only sibling. Then it became very couple of days, then a week, then special occasions... It's been 5 years now and the grief sometimes still overwhelms me.

“Sometimes, when one person is missing, the whole world seems depopulated.” ~ Alphonse de Lamartine

Your best friend was a precious, precious person in your life. And then to have had to watch what she went through would have been extremely painful. I pray for strength, comfort and peace for you, dear friend, and to take it a day at a time.

"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love." ~ Washington Irving

I wish I could give you a real hug, too, Kat! ♥Hugs♥

I think it's wonderful that you and hubby are up in the mountains. It sounds beautiful! Feel that peace there in your very soul, my dear, and let the soothing sounds of the creek was over you and give you tranquility.

“And there were no rules for how to deal with the death of someone you loved. You had to accept that the loss would always stay with you, like a reminder note pinned to the inside of your jacket. But there were still opportunities for happiness. Even joy.” ~ Lisa Kleypas, from Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor

Jennifer Lane Wow, you knew the secret from the get-go, huh? I wonder if that would've increased my draw to one particular character. I just didn't have the emotional connection you had to him, so it was tough to love the ending. I NEVER figure out mysteries LOL. Awesome review!
