Angela M Nice review, Amalia. I skipped this mainly because I don't believe this is an author for me . I read Hologram for the King and didn't love it . But I enjoyed your review!

Diane S ☔ Super review, Amalia.

message 3: by Jaline (new)

Jaline Great review, Amalia! This has been on my eReader for a long time but I have not been 'called' to make it a priority. :)

Thank you so much, Angela. I know what you mean, there were times when he seemed to try too hard, but I'll give his other work a try:)

Thank you so much, Jaline. I wouldn't call it a ''priority'' either, but I believe this is a book everyone should read. If nothing else, it provides much food for thought on social media and the desire to be exposed.

Carol (Bookaria) I agree with your review... it's not a quick read and you have to be in the mood for it :)

Sr3yas Whoa, Great review! I am already creeped out by internet advertisements tailored by my browsing tendencies (Apparently, Amazon wants me to buy a new bookshelf :p)

Thank you, Carol:) I firmly believe that if the characters had been more interesting and plausible, I would have granted 4 stars.

Thank you so much! I know what you mean, I am plagued with those messages as well. Although, nobody has told me I need a new bookshelf and I KNOW I absolutely need one...Oh, well...:)

PattyMacDotComma Great review, Amalia. I loved A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius when I read it years ago, but I haven't read anything else of his. I avoided this one because I'd read it was just a kind of put-down of Google, and I figured I'm already aware that Google knows everything there is to know about me so I don't need to scare myself any further!

Thank you so much, Patty! I understand what you mean. There are times when the reader will feel either terrified or really bored with this book, and exasperated by the sheer stupidity of the main character. I will read Egger's work in the future, but it's not one of my main reading priorities.

....I couldn't agree more about Google...

Eva Sorry, Nice review i meant. The thing with this book is, that it sticks. It's still in my mind now and then. I was in doubt 3 or 4 stars.

Thank you so much, Eva! I agree with you. It definitely stays with the reader, despite its weaknesses. It is one of those reading moments that can actually terrify you when you think about all the web traps out there...

Susan Great review Amalia of a terrifying concept. Seems like one of those things that we all know is possible and/or real but we don't want to acknowledge it. Too close to home.

Thank you so much, Susan. I agree, there were quite a few moments when I stopped reading and thought that ''wait a minute, this isn't dystopian. This is actually the very tangibl present we experience...'' There are a few passages in this book that are definitely eye-opening. If only the main character was willing to open her eyes as well....
