Splendid review. This is often the case with Shakespeare; one really has to get to know it as a performance before the effect starts to sink in. Plus, it's usually taught terribly. I think a lot of people can relate to this experience with R & J!

I agree,
when I was in year 3 I hated it but now because I have read it so many times I have grew to love it . This is because I have read it so many times I have got used to it.
I agree with your first statement i am currently a freshman reading Romeo and Juliet and i find it useless to read about how they fall in love in one night then them getting married after. But , then i see how Romeo and Juliet helps you to see many things like dramatic irony and dramatic language. I also agree with you when you said that You don't know why English teachers assign it to freshman because i feel like adults will better understand it then some freshman .
