KAS Fantastic review, Tina! Glad you loved ;) xox

Sam toer Awesome review Tina. Have you seen the recently remade movie version? It is great.

message 6: by Marina (new)

Marina Great review. I only recently read this but I'd like to listen to a different poirot book narrated by Suchet. For me Suchet is the definitive Poirot.

I think they are just kids.

Thank you so much! I did! I do enjoy Agatha Christie. She was brilliant. My daughter is 11 and mentioned being interested so I think I should start getting her some Christie books :)

Thank you very much! And I have actually. I just watched it last night when I was finished with the book. It's a good movie by itself but should not be compared to the book. I feel like the movie is based on the book but with artistic liberties taken and it is quite different in some ways while the same in others. I understand why certain things are done but some people want the movie to be the book exactly and that doesn't always work. I did like the actor playing Poirot but he wasn't quite playing the Poirot in the books. He nailed the voice though and his moustache was très magnifique :)

Thank you! And Suchet is definitely Poirot. He plays him perfectly. He is amazing! I'm going to have to look it up to see how many Poirot books he narrates. He narrated The Mysterious Affair at Styles, which is the one I read before this one. He might do all of them. How fantastic would that be? :)

Evgeny Nice review Tina!

I completely agree that:
1. Agatha Christie was a genius.
2. David Suchet IS Hercule Poirot. Accept no substitutes :)

Terry Great review! I just read this last year ahead of the movie. I enjoyed the book much more, and agree with your take on the movie too.

Thanks! I'm happy that we are in agreement. Also, I didn't realize there was an original movie from 1974. I'm really curious to see that one too now. The classics are almost always better, aren't they? :)

I didn't know about that one either. I wonder if it does a better job following the book? May have to check it out also.

I just checked out the Wikipedia page for it. It seems like it is a lot more similar to the book. It even has Dr. Constantine in it. They changed a few details about a couple of the suspects and two names but nothing even close to how the new one does. At least not that I could tell.

Good to know! Definitely sounds like it's worth checking out. I found it on Amazon prime movies even.

Nice! I'm gonna see if my library has it. If you watch it before me let me know what you thought :)

MissBecka This was one of my favourite books as a kid (my poor brother had to read it to me over and over again lol), I'm so glad you liked it!!!

Awww! That's sweet. Sounds to me like he's a pretty good brother :)

message 24: by MissBecka (new)

MissBecka I would have to agree with you :)
He is a pretty awesome big bro!

message 25: by Adina (new)

Adina yes, the conclusion was the perfect. Unfortunately, I saw the movie and I don't think i'll enjoy reading the novel when i know what happened.

If you read it to catch the differences you might still enjoy it. Or listen to the audiobook. I agree it's not nearly as fun when you know the ending though.

leslie hamod Adina, read the book! You may already know what happens but the book often differs significantly, and in most cases is better than the movie! And Tina, definitely see the 1974 movie, it was a triumph!

I did watch the 1974 movie. It was much closer to the book than the newer one, and I really enjoyed it :)

leslie hamod I agree

I still haven’t watched it. Sounds like it’s worth doing it, though!

Yeah. It's definitely worth it. My husband flipped out when he realized he was looking at a much younger Sean Connery :)
