I only stuck with this book because I wanted to see if he mentioned any of the places that I'd been to in Italy. In the end, I wished, I'd just reviewed my holiday snaps on my phone.

Totally agree! Thankfully it's the only one I've read besides One Day (which I wasn't mad about either) He's one of those authors who likes to write about unpleasant characters & doesn't appreciate that we just don't care enough about them to make the read worthwhile. Also we can meet (& work) with unpleasant people in real life so we don't need to read about them as well. Finally, his wife & son were the most selfish, horrible pair ever & so I couldn't understand why he wanted to spend any time with them. If it had been me I would have kept travelling!
