I really agree with you. The characters were quite flat, and the book left me wanting, but I've read other Jennifer Donnelly books that are actually some of my favorites. I'm glad to know we share an opinion 😊.

I totally agree with you Lula! This book was not that great.... I felt like Jennifer threw in way to many characters. I think that the book was flat.... Personally this is the only book i have ever read by this author so have no idea what her other books are about but honestly i don't think i am very much intrested. I gave this book a three star rateing because i thought her detail was tremendous and she had to have taken a lot of time to come up with two books in one... Because she was writing Belles book "Nevermore" and she was writing her book. Honestly if she had not made her novel so creative i would of given it two stars... one is a little over extreme... This was not a hate and burn book.... It was just a don't ever pick up again kinda book for me. I am glad that i read your review because it gave me a chance to type out what i really felt about this book.
Completely agree with your assessment and glad to know I’m not the only one who wasn’t in love with this adaptation!
