Maja (The Nocturnal Library) Chaining you to your Kindle works! Who knew!?

Love the review. I'm secretly a big fan of go go boots. :D

Jo Hahaha, me too. I wish it was more socially acceptable to wear them in public.

I'm ready to start when you are, my love!

Jo And Catie, of course. Don't want to forget about that rummon. (New word for you ;-) )

Maja (The Nocturnal Library) I'm ready now! We just need to wait for Catie. :)

Maja (The Nocturnal Library) Please explain! :D

Jo Rummon = A cheeky scamp who regularly gets up to mischief.

I hope you're writing all these down by the way.

Maja (The Nocturnal Library) Of course. They are priceless. :) You might have to explain the explanation from time to time, you know?

We should probably start tomorrow. I have this killer headache and there isn't a single spark of intelligence in my eyes right now. I know, I just checked.

Jo Yeah that sounds good. I get the impression that it's not for the faint hearted so we need to be bushy eyed and bright tailed (I know, I need sleep)

Haha, I will do. Any random words I slip in will now come with a Maja definition. ;-)

Maja (The Nocturnal Library) That's very considerate of you, you insanely eloquent woman.

Bushy eyed and bright tailed?!? Sounds serious. Go sleep now!

Jo But it's tooo hot.

message 11: by Wendy Darling (new)

Wendy Darling Rummon! I have never heard of that. But I like it. And I like this review. (Obviously.) I'm glad it picked up for you. She's different from other heroines in that she was so unsure of herself for so long, but I found that pretty honest and a nice change from all the gung-ho YA characters. Not that I don't love those too, but you know....

message 12: by Jo (new)

Jo Yeah I agree, Wendy.
Even though it did take me a while, I thought it was really realistic and I think I've just read too many, stealing your phrase, gung-ho YA books where it's all like HERE IS EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER FELT ON A PLATTER.
The more I think about it the more I liked that it took Macy a bit longer than one meeting with a cute boy to be sure of herself.

message 13: by Wendy Darling (new)

Wendy Darling Yess...and I appreciate that this wasn't all just about him. I liked all the stuff with her friends and with the catering lady and with her mom and her sister, too. I thought how she stood up to those girls at library was awesome, I think most of us have felt belittled and unsure of ourselves in just that way.

You're right, lame ex, though. I have heard of boys like him before, but only in books...? Hopefully that is where they will remain. :D

message 14: by Jo (new)

Jo Yes! I loved the library bit. Those girls needed a slap. I hate people like that, and the sad thing is that they weren't even characatures, people like that actually exists and they just make people feel bad about themselves to make them feel big.
I hate people who look down on people and patronise them. It's so low.
Really gets my blood pumping.
You can imagine the fist pump when Macy finally had enough!

message 15: by Catie (new)

Catie I love being called a rascally scamp, probably because in real life I am a very vanilla looking suburban house wife (But only on the outside! On the inside I'm alllllll Rummon).

Are you sure you're not just making up words and laughing your ass off when we're gullible enough to start using them?

I'm good with tomorrow. I've got my copy all ready to go now, though.

message 16: by Jo (new)

Jo Haha no, I'm not. I swear that people actually use these words... or at least in my family. (My grandad, who has filled my vocab with words like this, pronounces the word 'bus' 'buzz', though... so I guess the jury's still out!)

Yes! I'm so excited to read this book. I hope it's good and that Wendy hasn't just been lying to us. :-|

message 17: by Wendy Darling (new)

Wendy Darling Mwah hah hah, you'll find out soon enough...

message 18: by Jo (new)

Jo Tease.

message 19: by Flannery (new)

Flannery I find welding a really sexy pasttime, though my experience with welding is basically zero. I have soldered quite a bit though!

I've known a few guys who loped but I can't say I know any crazy-studying listmakers. I look for fun in friends so I'd probably avoid these types of guys like the plagues they are.

message 20: by Eve (new)

Eve Messenger I totally enjoyed your intelligent, insightful, and very entertaining review. And I'm not just saying that because I totally agreed with it--especially the part about the excellent supporting cast.
