message 2: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely I only read his "The Unquiet" and I have two other in my tbr. I hope to have a copy of this too! Nice review, Nancy.

Nancy Thanks, K.D. This book was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to his others.

Jim It's nice to find someone else that never found Monty Python or Hitchhiker funny. No wonder you're my friend.
;-)

message 5: by Nancy (new)

Nancy I don't think there are many of us around, Jim. ;)

Hitchhiker bothered me too. Because... well because I take my SF very seriously (shame on you Mystery Science Theater!). But I think Monty and friends had their moments—The Dead Parrot routine and the song Every Sperm is Sacred, eg... And I did like the spinoff, Faulty Towers.

This book sounds fascinating Nancy.

Thank you, Will. I'm not sure my gown would have been appropriate.

This was highly entertaining, Kernos. It's definitely worth checking out. I wonder if the audio version would be confusing with all the footnotes.

Lee Thompson Nice review, Nancy! I love John Connolly. And Nurd was my favorite in this story. Hehe. Poor demonic soul.

message 11: by Char (new)

Char I haven't read this one yet, but I am a big Connolly fan. I enjoyed your review, Nancy!

message 12: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Thank you, Lee and Charlene. Nurd was adorable! I wouldn't mind having him as a buddy.

Joe Parker Wow! So this is where the 5 people are who didn't soil themselves over Mr. Adams & Messers 'Python'! I must comment on something I saw recently... The opening to an episode of 'Family Guy' was done as an homage to MP, (No! NOT 'Member of Parliament'! ) It was a very inspired wink to MP. I know! Who cares! You don't find MP funny! Well- I DO! So you probably don't find this comment funny! Well- OK! I'll just shut up then!

Jess ❈Harbinger of Blood-Soaked Rainbows❈ My brother used to reenact Monty Python's black knight skit when we were kids and I thought it was the funniest thing ever. when I actually got around to seeing the movie, I found my brothers bit to be way funnier than the actual thing and I haven't gotten into Monty Python since. But I also crack up during Wes Anderson movies that no one else seems to understand so I totally feel you.
