S.wagenaar The best fantasy book I have read in a long time, a dark, grim good time. I hesitate to call it Grimdark outright, because of the Northern Thing vibe going on, and the blood and thunder Robert E Howard feel as well. This is good old-fashioned Sword and Sorcery adventure!

Agreed! The book as a whole is not "Grimdark".... but 'Grim'nir is "grimdarkish" as a character.

Greg Nice review, Seth! I'm intrigued by the Irish angle so I'll have to give this a read in due course.
