Linda Years ago I belonged to a book of the month type of organization that published translated works from all over the world. The authors were lesser known but excellent. Unfortunately they went bankrupt. One of their selections was a Soviet novel called the Queue. All it was was the conversations of Russians standing in an endless queue. Nothing but dialog. It was very subversive but in that subtle way that passes the censor. And it was hilarious. Can't help but think this must be partly based on that.
