Tatiana Actually, this is not a true story. The author of this book published quite a few cautionary tales.

Emily May Really? Ok, I don't understand the attraction at all then haha. I thought that was the reason it did well :/

message 3: by Tatiana (new)

Tatiana I think it was published under "Anonymous" back then...

message 4: by Erin (new)

Erin the irony of your review it that (I'm pretty sure) the whole thing was actually made up, not a real person's diary. allure = lost.

message 5: by Emily May (new)

Emily May yeah, that's what I was saying with Tatiana above. I thought the attraction was in the fact that this was someone's real life experience, when you take that out it has no redeeming qualities IMO.

message 6: by Kristen (new)

Kristen I agree with your review.
So, it turns out, this is not a true story or an actual teen girl's diary.

message 7: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thanks Kristen and yes, it seems it was just made to look autobiographical but actually wasn't.

message 8: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Sorry Emily!! I didn't see Tatiana informing you first! Sadly, I also thought it was autobiographical too and was greatly disturbed to find out that it wasn't.

message 9: by Paige (new)

Paige I the only reason I pushed myself to finish this book was because I thought it was a true account.. Now that I know it's not I can't find a single redeeming quality tbh!

Olivia I just picked this book to read at school, because we're doing the clubs and this was one of the options. I'm kind of scared to read it now, because you do not seem very pleased with the writing. However this was a true story they found her diary in the rehab center, and then in either just rewrote it to take out the dates, names, etc.

Well I read it so long ago but I remember being really unimpressed. I hope you like it better :)

message 12: by Joyce (new)

Joyce I actually read another book published by this author and it was very disappointing. The title of the book was called " Letting Ana Go". The author uses the same concept on most or all of the books, which is a journal form. The ending is very predictable: The main character dies. So I totally agree with you. Maybe not about Go Ask Alice but the author.

Nicole Emily,

I agree. This book was slow. I believe that I only got through 3 "diary" entries before I had to quit reading.
