Lance Shadow Hooray! someone who understands Vidian's awesomeness :D. there are a huge number of reviewers on this site who didn't like the villain but I just don't get it, because hes a great villain.

Glad we agree on this! Though, sadly, the way the book went it really looks like he was 100% a one-and-done character.

Lance Shadow eh, as long as they go out with a bang I'm fine with one-and-dones, as long as they were good characters. The rise of the Empire compilation has a short story featuring him teaming up with Tarkin that takes place before A New Dawn and he is pretty great there too.
The advantage of having one and dones is that we get to meet more characters in the star wars universe making it feel bigger. Sure we get a deeper arc if the characters are featured more than once but both approaches can work.
And even though we don't have Vidian anymore we still get the even more awesome Rae Sloane!!

Robert Oh, cool, a Vivian/Tarkin team-up would be...most efficient? And yeah, I liked the Sloane character a lot, so I'm glad we get to keep her. ;)

Lance Shadow The short story actually features them at odds because of their different backgrounds and beliefs on how a problem should be approached. The way they work off each other is fascinating.

Robert That sounds pretty cool! I'll have to keep an eye out for that book, thanks :)
