Susan Malone I love Ford so much, and specifically Frank Bascombe, that I haven't finished this. I read half of it when it first came out, and wept with happiness for, well, for Frank being there and for Ford writing him.
I just can't bring myself to finish with old Frank. Hurts my heart to even consider it, so it sits on my nightstand still.

Joshilyn Jackson Here's the thing---Finish. THEN? Reread. :)

Idella With a review of this caliber, I have to not only read it as planned, it now has to move to the top of the pile. Thanks Joshilyn for reminding me that there lies beside me a gem waiting patiently to be devoured and cherished. Sweet Awesome Sauce!

Louise Pre-Ordered this on your recommendation alone! I love your writing (and your reading as I'm an Audible kind of gal). Can't wait to read this and am also on pleasant, prickly pins and nipping needles of anticipation awaiting "The Opposite of Everyone" (also on pre-order)!

Becky I'm really confused, which isn't all that unusual for me, but I need some help here. How is this book related to Richard Ford's books about Frank Bascombe? Or is it? Ford has a new book called Let Me Be Frank with You that is his fourth book about Frank Bascombe. Joshilyn's review is about a book by Julia Claiborne Johnson, but the first comment here is about Ford. What am I missing?

Joshilyn Jackson Oh see I have never read a Frank Bascombe book. But people get names wrong allthe time. I just got a LOVELY fan letter from a woman who loved opposite---she spoke at length about this specific scene near the end of the book, so I know she meant Opposite---and yet she called the Narrator Jane the whole time. In her head, Paula was named Jane...I just assumed the original l commenter was calling Mimi FORD for some reason and that she meant Frank BANNING which is close to Bascombe :D

Barbara This book is exactly the kind of book I like to read , too. And - oh by the way - I feel the same way about your books and books written by Marisa de los Santos. I've added the other authors you mentioned to my to-be-read list. Thanks!
