He is a wonder. I was just reminded that he also wrote the book The Body which the movie Stand by Me was based on.
I have ignored and discounted him for many years because of the earlier works but that is about to change. SR is one of my all time favorite movies. Does the book differ significantly from the film?
Loved the film I don't usually backtrack and read once I've viewed. Great review -I have his jfk one I'm looking fwd to reading.

The book and film were pretty similar as far as the gist of the story and the ending. There were a couple more characters in the movie, or 3 wardens in the book were combined into one for the movie. Most of the differences are in the other characters, but also Red is a white Irishman in the book and obviously Morgan Freeman is not. ;)
Great review Karen, and makes me want to listen to the audio. I've just listened to two SK audiobooks in a row and both left me wanting more. I agree about the human stories being wonderful.
Hi Karen, great review. I loved this book and movie too. I was wondering if you are able to recommend any non-horror Stephen King books. I really like his style of writing but am also a bit of a wimp when it comes to horror so I’m always too scared to read his books without knowing what I am in for! Thanks! :)

Sure, Katie, and Goodreads already has a list of his non-horror books here https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
I would start with The Green Mile (I haven't read it, just saw the movie which had a little of the supernatural but not horror), and my favorite lately is his Bill Hodges Trilogy, starting with Mr. Mercedes
