Bill Lynas An excellent novel, as well as an excellent film.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin I have never read the book but the movie scares the crap out of me. Lol, I'm betting the book will be worse :-)

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin I know! I got this one today. I had an old paperback but still haven't read them yet. Will have to suck it up and get to it soon :-)

Carol You're braver than me!!!

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin I don't know. This movie scared me to death as a kid and I can barely watch it as an adult. And I watch tons of scary movies and read horror books. Something about this one though!

I watched it once Melissa at the movies, and the next night my husband had to go out of town and I was awaken by noise in the middle of the night. When I looked down our long hall to the half glass garage door, two yellow eyes were staring at me. My cat Sylvester had gotten locked in the garage, and was hanging on the lip of the window. I about had a heart attack. Will NEVER forget that!

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin Omg!!!!!!!! I would have had a freaking heart attack!!

I used to have nightmares about her and I would be in the dream yelling at myself to wake up. I better not get them after reading this

I CANNOT wait to read your review!!!

message 10: by Wayne (new)

Wayne Barrett This was the first serious novel I read and it introduced me to the world of adult reading. I was only 12 when I read it and our culture toward this kind of entertainment was quite different then (1974) but I was blown away by this book. I finally reread it last year and it was still an excellent novel.

It will be a scary one :-)

Carol I love reading HORROR....will read just about any of it, but have not even added this to my to my shelf........yet.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin I hope you do at some point but can understand if you don't. If you do, make sure no one is leaving town and you know where the cats at!! :-)

message 16: by Carol (new)

Carol Lol Melissa.......

message 17: by Mark (new)

Mark Enjoy yourselves reading and then watch the movie.

message 18: by Carol (new)

Carol I may read the book, but am NEVER watching the movie again Mark. Give me IT any day of the week!

message 19: by Mark (new)

Mark Nothing wrong clowning about with IT, I loved the religious aspects of The Excorsist.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin Omg!!!! Ittttttttttttttt :-) one of my favorite books. I even have the blu ray! I hope the new one is good but I will have to wait for it to go to video before I see it.

message 21: by Rebbie (new)

Rebbie Omg I can't wait to see the new version of IT!! Why I enjoy terrorizing myself is truly mystifying. IT is the kind of scary that makes you do illogical things, like flip on the switch before you walk into a room, or make sure your feet are completely covered by your blanket (as if that alone would really stop a boogeyman from grabbing your feet if he wanted to, Ha!). I even know someone who stopped up their shower drain for weeks after reading IT.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin Lol, I didn't even think about the drain. All this time a creepy arse clown could have gotten me! I don't know why I read books with clowns in them or watch horror movies with them in it. They are beyond!! And now they have a clown emoji on the phone that I send my friends and I get a text back to stop sending the creepy client. Lol. It would be cool if he had an evil grin. <--- I'm just not right o_0

Emily Just Emily*~* oohhhhh scary! this will be a good review!

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin It just got to one of the freaky scary parts so I'm done for the night!

message 25: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Strömquist Agree about the movie topping the book actually! Reading gives you far too much time to ponder and question stuff and some horror is ill suited for that... That 'spider' stair-walk is so frickin creepy- it was the best thing about the new version I thought!

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin Omg!! The spider thing freaked me the hell out! That's actually the only scene in the book that scared me. Lol.

Ellen Gail Great review Melissa! I loved both the book and the movie, but I think the movie scared me more. Although maybe just because I saw it at a younger age.

message 34: by PirateSteve (new)

PirateSteve I enjoyed your review even though it brings back memories of perhaps the scariest movie I've ever seen.

also there is that one little piece of info that a subconscious fears most.

Thank you and I agree with the scariest movie part! Thank you for the link, that's interesting about the boy or terrifying if he truly was possessed!

message 38: by Michael Fierce (last edited Feb 04, 2017 02:29PM) (new)

Michael Fierce I thought the movie was quite a bit scarier than the book, which I read when I was 12; A very good book but a Horror masterpiece of a movie.

message 39: by Steve (new)

Steve Chaput I recommend you seek out the third Exorcist film, that Blatty did himself. Not as classic as the first, but it makes you forget the horrible second film in the franchise.
