message 3: by Danielle (new)

Danielle I need to get to her books asap!

message 4: by Daiane (new)

Daiane I have almost all her books on my TR and you just made me add one more!! "So many books for so little time..." true...

message 5: by Digne (new)

Digne Her books are always so sweet but perhaps a little too simplistic. I've only read two of them (that one and "The Distance Between Us") so I need to read the others.

I definitely agree simplistic, but I actually tend to gravitate toward those ones in contemporary. I find serious plot lines about trauma or family issues drive me away. I don't do books like Gayle Forman or John Green (which I swear everyone but me likes) so this was perfect for me! I'll have to check out others too:)

I can see why everyone loves her:) It's like romcom as YA books, I loved it!

Yes, but I was comparing West to someone more like Stephanie Perkins. The resolution of Perkins' books usually has a little more to them than West's. West's resolution can seem a little too random and less character driven. I won't spoil "The Distance Between Us" but there is a part of that ending that still makes no sense to me, as much as I love that book.

And I agree, John Green really is a different genre than West or Perkins. Rainbow Rowell is sort of the halfway point. And Gayle Forman sits in there somewhere.

Oh, I can definitely see that S. Perkins is another I love too. Anna was by far my fave by her so far! Hmm, we shall see with Distance Between us, I guess. I actually HATE Rainbow's books, her style drives me up a wall even though everyone loves her haha:)

Aj the Ravenous Reader This IS adorable and so are her other novels. I have only one published book by her I haven't yet read but which I'm planning to read soon.^^

Oooh, if you remember to, let me know when you read it, then I can try and read another of hers at same time:) I am making myself read the next 4 books I have planned and then I can always swing a Kasie book after those, I swear I didn't stop hers once I started it last night until like 3am when I was finished and then grumpy all day at work!

Aj the Ravenous Reader I sure will! That's a great idea! :) A medal for you for starting a book at 3am. That's unheard of. Lol. Sorry it made you grumpy at work though.

Melissa (Ever So Mela) AAAAHHH! I am so happy you loved this!! Kasie West is hands down one of my fav YA romance authors.

Awww ♥ I hope you'll enjoy the other ones as much as this one :) You need to read The Distance!! Gah, Xander ♥♥

Rachel E. Carter Distance will be next up on my Kasie list! I just really loved her style of writing, I will say I was hoping for a bit more romance (a little more making out? one kiss ending tortured me after all that tension) but overall it was so feel good and fluffy I didn't care. Just a lot of "awwww" moments. And Melissa, I can so see why she's one of your favorites. If I only read one book and think "auto-buy author" that's a very good sign!!! I hardly do that but I already know I will for her, it's like a bunch of cute rom-coms with all my favorite (albeit cheesy) tropes:)

Melissa (Ever So Mela) Yeah, she's kinda always light on the romance. And her endings are often open ended. I find it really hard to believe I love her so much in spite of that. Cause romance wise, I like my steam and ending wise, I need my closure. But man does she does it well.

message 28: by Inge (new)

Inge This is how I ended up adding all her books to my tbr shelf as well haha :D I just loved this so much, I think I read it within a day? Made me laugh, and it's the perfect summer read.

Yea, I am all about steamy PG-13 in my YA, but this book still managed to trick me into loving it. Evil, evil book <3 She does it totally well.

I couldn't agree more! One of my friends has a bday today and I am so buying her a couple books for summer since she has it off before she starts teaching and I know this will be one of them because she loves good fluff <3

message 30: by Inge (new)

Inge I bought this book for a friend as well, she loved it as much as we did! :D

Stupid bookstore by my house didn't have this or Shatter Me or Blood Red Road. I was so sad:( I still told her to read Kasie West asap, this was freaking adorable!!!

message 32: by Nerdy Housewifey (new)

Nerdy Housewifey Okay so I usually don't read contemporary romance because I like to read to escape and it seems like they're all these cancer tear jerkers and I just can't do it.... Then I read Serial Hottie because it was on your bad boy list. So now I've read all of Kelly Oram's and Kasie West and I need more :,,(
Got any more authors to get my light and fluffy fix?

message 33: by Digne (last edited Sep 29, 2015 06:41PM) (new)

Digne The Light and Fluffy YA Contemporary Fix List:
Stephanie Perkins
Emery Lord
Kasie West
Sandy Hall
Lauren Morrill
Kim Culbertson
Morgan Matson

YA not-contemporary but still fluffy:
Eva Ibbotson (just her romances)

Adult but always hits the spot:
Sarah Addison Allen

Neither YA nor contemporary but absolutely the most glorious fluff you will ever encounter:
Georgette Heyer

** Disclaimer: I have not read every book by every author on this list and so it is possible one of their books is non-fluffy.

Rachel E. Carter @ Kayla, I totally agree with Digne saying Stephanie Perkins and I also love Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries and Mediator:) I don't read a lot of contemporary because I am so picky and DNF a lot of it when there are sad stories/cancer/etc. but Kelly Oram/Meg Cabot/Kasie West are my three tried & true <3 I'm so happy you got hooked on Kelly!!! I only discovered her last year & she's incredible:)

PS YAY DIGNE ON LOTS OF NEW READING MATERIAL!!! THANK YOU:)

message 35: by Nerdy Housewifey (new)

Nerdy Housewifey That moment when you receive a pile of new books to read ^.^ so happy right now thanks Digne!!!! And I've heard a lot about Meg Cabot I'll add her too!!! Now to get home and start reading

message 36: by Digne (new)

Digne I must add Meg Cabot! I've only seen the Princess Diaries movies and I hear all the time that the books are better.

From the above list I'll highlight some of my favorites:

Stephanie Perkins -- Lola and the Boy Next Door (technically book 2 but it's stand alone, by far my fav in the series!)
Emery Lord -- The Start of Me and You ("Open Road Summer " is high on my TBR)
Kasie West -- The Distance Between Us (still need to read "The Fill-In Boyfriend")
Lauren Morrill -- Meant to Be and Being Sloane Jacobs

Eva Ibbotson -- A Countess Below Stairs

Sarah Addison Allen -- Garden Spells

Georgette Heyer -- The Grand Sophy, Sylvester or The Wicked Uncle, Friday's Child, Cotillion ... Heyer wrote over 50 books. She wrote mysteries and histories but her Regency romances are pure gold! Some are better than others, but her best are just so much fan that she attracts a surprising mix of fans. YA Sci-fi author Garth Nix is a huge fan of hers.
