Kelly (and the Book Boar) That first gif. Dying. That's what Erica looked like when we all read The DUFF. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Luv you, Erica : )

Crystal Starr Light The art does look incredible! I just didn't read any of the bubbles LOL!

Sad, after Simone's run, which I thought was pretty decent. Leastwise, I enjoyed it.

Poor Erica. *snickers* And she'll eventually realize we were right about that book, Kelly!

The art was phenomenal! LOVED IT! Simone's run was awesome, but I was more than willing to give someone else a shot with Batgirl. This was just too gimmicky for me.

And here I was upset about not getting it. Love this review Anne :)

message 6: by Anne (new)

Anne Thanks, Kat. I wonder what Sesana is going to think of this one...
*cringes*

message 7: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Too bad you didn't like it. BTW, Black Canary is getting her own book in the summer, and the rock band thing is a part of it.

Great review, Anne!

Thanks! And the covers & art inside are perfect. If this had horrible art, it would have been a 1 star book for me.

message 11: by Alejandro (new)

Alejandro Well, at least there is that! ;) :P

Noted!

Matt Williams Shit this looks lame. Don't get me wrong, I love comics, my house if full of them. But this looks poor. Thanks for the review :)

I'm more a Harley Quinn guy anyway.

message 15: by Cheese (new)

Cheese I think I have a sixth sense for films and comics knowing when they will be shit, I knew there was a reason I avoided side kick comics. You'll never see me reading robin, night wing or batgirl.

message 16: by Matt (last edited Apr 30, 2015 03:59AM) (new)

Matt Williams True. I've never seen the appeal; side kick is a side kick for a reason.

Batman all the way. Don't need much else but a bit of Bruce to keep my comic urges at bay.

message 17: by Anne (new)

Anne I'm one of those who like the sidekick comics, but I didn't enjoy this hipster Batgirl.

message 18: by Matt (new)

Matt Williams Haha hipster Batgril. . .

message 19: by Anne (new)

Anne Ha! Yeah, all she needed was a pair of those 'accessory' glasses & a cup of coffee from the local 'cool' underground java house.

message 20: by Matt (new)

Matt Williams Holy shit that's depressing. How have hipsters' managed to infiltrate everything, when they supposedly hate everything? Life is cruel.

message 21: by Jeff (new)

Jeff LOL! Well done, buddy!!

Everyone who just got the Yo Gabba Gabba reference is entitled to a nap and some animal crackers.

Gently putting my head on a pillow now.

Sleep well, my friend. And don't forget your crackers.

Jo Destroy yourself? this plot is so bad even the powerpuff girls will do it better LOL

Crystal Starr Light Anne wrote: "Ha! Yeah, all she needed was a pair of those 'accessory' glasses & a cup of coffee from the local 'cool' underground java house."

But coffee is waaaaaaaaaaaay better when it's from some hippie coffee shop!!

I may have been poisoned by the hipsters - I live hidden in their ranks.

Anne Nooooooo! Come back to us, Frap Lass! Stay away from the light!

message 35: by Chris (new)

Chris I tried some of this in singles when the big change was hyped, but it wound up being really weak. Remember when Batgirl was kicking ass in Death of The Family? Good times.

Yeah, I have a feeling we'll be wistfully looking back at the 'good old days' a lot.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

why did Batgirl reboot again?

message 38: by Anne (new)

Anne Colin wrote: "why did Batgirl reboot again?"

No idea. It's not a reboot, though. They're just..taking it in a different direction creatively?

message 39: by Cheese (new)

Cheese They shouldn't single them off as individual heroes. They should portray them as a family. Fighting together. The bat family. I'm copywriting it.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

After looking it up I see that the numbering for New 52 Batgirl didn't change, odd that they'd start the volume numbering over again though.

message 42: by Anne (new)

Anne Nope, at the end of Simone's run on Batgirl, Barbara decides to pack up and head out. This is where she ends up, I guess. But her whole personality changed with the move. She also seems less skilled as a fighter. It's nutty. Again, like a kids cartoon.

message 43: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Anne wrote: "It's got too many adult situations in it to be a comic for kids."

I'm not sure I understand this statement. The new Batgirl stories are still rated "T" for Teen, just like the previous Simone stories. I don't know why people think this is supposed to be for kids or all-ages. I know the artwork is a bit on the cartoony side, but it was never marketed as a kid's book.

message 44: by Mike (new)

Mike Good lord, this is a travesty. I thought DC was letting the reins off, getting its groove back, getting down with the creative? Sounds like same old stepping-on-your-own-dick dance moves.

LOL! No, I didn't go into it thinking (because of the artwork or anything else) that it was for kids. I'm saying that Barbara and her villains are so dumbed-down, that it felt like something you'd see in a children's comic book.

Anne Mike wrote: "Good lord, this is a travesty. I thought DC was letting the reins off, getting its groove back, getting down with the creative? Sounds like same old stepping-on-your-own-dick dance moves."

Mike, I get that they wanted to go 'lighter', and I support that. But all of Simone's work on her character is just flushed down the toilet. She has to really concentrate to beat two unskilled cosplayers! And in order to beat them, she 'goes back in her memory', and relives watching the anime cartoon they're into to 'find the weakness' in their skills. I literally LOL'd while I was reading that part.

Oh Dear . . .every time I check this discussion . . .it gets worse and worse.

Anne Don't worry, soon we'll be so off-topic that you won't recognize the thread, Matt. Somebody will be talking about a zit on their ass or something.
Not that that's ever happened...
