David Rothwell While it may have seemed a relaxed time, it most certainly was not. Most of the UK was, demonstrating against a new regime, one that was more powerful. One that threatened humanity globally, that beast was Nuclear Armament. CND being the leading activist against such weapons. Moreover, before those marches, people did march for the Vietnam Solidarity Campaign here in the UK. Decades later, they were still campaigning for Nuclear Disarmament as late as 1983. That particular year ABC Circle films produced a film for television that helped in the cause against nuclear arms. The Day After (TV Movie 1983). Through the 1980s we also had demonstrations against Poll Tax, and the miners strike which highlights the Battle of Orgreave in this book. I totally agree with you that as a species we really are like children, we have not evolved past prejudice whatsoever.
