Erika Jessica, this is a wonderful review -- you have given potential readers a great sense of what you liked and disliked about the book. I believe I would be bothered by the heroine's behavior as much as you were. I have read many books where the heroine was raped or abused. While, the heroine in this book may be acting in ways that could realistically happen in real life, I find that I don't want to read that in a romance. In a romance, I want to see heroines finding help, being brave in going forward, opening themselves up to the loving hero. Does that always happen in real life? No, I am sure it does not. But romance novels are supposed to be fantasies that make us happy to read.

Lady Gabriella of Awesomeness (On Hiatus) Great honest review love...

Exactly, but the way she acted about the rape didn't bother me nearly as much as the way she treated the Hero, her 2 best friends and her boss! I could have over looked her not being braver because sometimes fear does cripple you , but not the way she crapped on everyone that was bending over backwards to take care of her. It's disappointing this book could have been a beautiful moving book if the H was written a little better. Thanks Erika :)

That does sound so disappointing and I know how you feel. There are those books I have read that I just wished so badly the author had made a few changes. They are so close to being great.

I hope book 2 has both a likable hero AND heroine!

I am not reading the other two books in this series because they are the same book just written in the pov of the hero and her best friend Jase. I did skim them both and the hero's book has a little extra at the end that was good! Now I am reading Transcendence. Thanks again for recommending it. I have high hopes that it will be alot better then the last few I read!

Erika Oh gotcha! Yeah, if you didn't like this one, I can see why the others would not interest you.

I hope you will be one of the people who love Transcendence. Most do (like me! lol) but there are a few who don't. One of the complaints people had was that his internal vocabulary was too advanced. Ummm....ALL of his internal vocabulary could be thought of that way. Clearly, the author is using our language today, but I thought it told us how he was feeling quite nicely!!

Fingers crossed for you..........

Yve Thank you so much for this review. I started reading Fading because of all the five star reviews my friends had written, but as I got further into the book I found that I was becoming increasingly frustrated with Candace. Being a rape victim myself, I couldn't relate to her need to want to bury her head in the sand and want to forget it even happened. The true judge of someone's character is how they handle adversity and as such, I found Candace severely lacking...how she could allow her attacker to go free and possibly do that to someone else did not sit well with me and prevented me from continuing without seeking out a more honest review than the ones I had previously read. Reading your review has solidified my decision to mark this as a big DNF and I don't feel even a little bit guilty about doing so because I have absolutely no respect for the heroine. I read books for the enjoyment they provide, and this has none to offer. Life's too short to read crappy books, so thanks again for helping save the time

Mariama I have read book one of the black lotus series and it was very enjoyable althrough i think Nina reasoning is flawed and she is emotionally weak so i was thinking about starting this series until i read your review which is making think twice but before i can form a firm decision about this book can you please clarify one of your statement for me- could he have been able to stop the rape from occurring?

No he came out just right after he had already raped her. He was still on top of her and hitting her, but Ryan as soon as he saw them starting beating on the rapist and tried to catch him, but he ran off.
