I concur.
I remember liking it in high school so I picked it up for a re-read around the time the movie was coming out. I did not get very far. I think I liked it in high school because it was short and I was more interested in boys than books at that point in my life.

bahahaha I just picked this up over the weekend, I've wanted to read it for ages -- it's one of the few "books you read in school" that I never read!

I agree, and I think this book is overrated.
This may sound weird but I agree with you mostly, even though I did love the book. I think I did partially because the story had so many things that were horrible (also I too got annoyed by the 'old sport' thing, that was just unnecessary).
I completely agree and that is was better than the movie
LOL, I agree. For some reason it left me sad as if they had wasted all their time partying but it lacks dept. Which in itself is telling.
Still too long for me. I've never gotten through it.
Well, that's one of the things I found so unsatisfying!!
