Imi place, este ambitioasa, ciudatica in sensul bun. Inca nu sunt sigura dar cred ca mi-a placut mai mult The Ocean at the End of the Lane .

Diana Serbanica I enjoyed the Ocean at the end of the lane more, same as you.

Many say that Neverwhere is also a masterpiece. I bought it last week as an offer and hope to read it next year to check out for myself

Jaidee A nice little taste as this book is on my shortlist. The Ocean at the End of the Lane was a 3 star read for me so I'm hoping I like this one more :)

I hope so too. Or you might find out Gaiman is not for you. I admire that you give the author a second chance. I do not usually do that with my 3* reads.

Trudie How are you enjoying the TV series ?

Cecily I'm not sure how I missed this when I was going through my friends' reviews, but I'm glad I've found it now. I agree, it's an awesome concept, and although you let your heart do the talking, it's a pretty smart review, too.
;)

Now my feelings about American Gods are less positive. Funny how perception changes.

Roxana Chirilă "Although people say that this is Neil Gaiman’s masterpiece I enjoyed The Ocean at the End of the Lane more."

I liked "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" more, too. But the thing is, I believe Neil writes differently enough and well enough that the idea of which his "best" work is depends on the reader more than anything.

Me, I think "The Sandman" is the masterpiece, but several other people told me they found it much to referential and hard to follow in the absence of a constant main character.

I tried the Sandman but I can't follow it either. You are right that he writes differently which is something i like in an author.

Helio Hello Adina, I am in the bookshop you recommended and will purchase this book (despite mixed reviews) as it is a lengthy read.
