Good review Joe. Thanks for explaining some mysterious stuff I didn't quite get when I saw the movie :)

Wonderful review, Joe. I need to read this again, and see the movie again. I'm sure I will 'see' it all differently now than in my younger days.

A fantastic review, Joe. I've long been a fan of both the book and the movie.

I'd hoped that Netflix offered 2001 for streaming on Netflix, but when they didn't, I had to steal it. For educational purposes. It was a good version, in the original aspect ratio with the MGM logo that was on the front of theatrical print. The György Ligeti music that Kubrick uses whenever the monolith appears is still pretty terrifying.

Thanks so much, James. I'm critical of science fiction authors like Clarke and his peers, but am glad I set my prejudices aside to read this.
