Goodreads asked John J. Allen:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

John J. Allen I try to write a book as though I were in the story. My goal is to write 2000 words per day and let them take the story wherever it goes. After a few days, I read what I've written to make sure I'm happy with it, and then keep on writing. As soon as I get to 50K words, I relax a bit, and then go back and expand on the story lines that may be weak. The interesting thing is, the more I write, the more I'm driven to keep on writing. In the back of my mind I make certain determinations in advance, most importantly, how the book will end. I try not to lose the synergy and never take a long break
