I would say many of the poems are targeted to women but many of them are more general and can apply beautifully to anyone. It is wonderful to read no matter who you are.

I would definitely recommend it to men! The protagonist is a woman and the book largely focuses on issues that girls/women have to deal with. Some of the topics are gender neutral, though. I do, however, think that reading this book might help men that are trying to understand women and their struggles and this is something that can never be bad.
