Goodreads asked Kelly Durham:

How do you get inspired to write?

Kelly Durham I've always enjoyed reading. In grade school, our librarian, Mrs. Bess Hammond, introduced us to the Dewey Decimal System. I spent a lot of time in the 92's--biographies--and eventually came to enjoy history too. As a teenager, I started reading spy novels dealing mostly with the cold war and began to wonder if I had the skill to write a book of my own. Years passed, but I eventually accepted the challenge and wrote The War Widow, which was set at the Nuremberg trials at the end of World War II. It combines history with mystery and got me hooked on writing.
