Laural Winter asked Eloisa James:

Dear Eloisa I LOVED My American Duchess. I found it moving, romantic and humorous the perfect blend which we need these days. I read a lot of romances and I love your romances. Would you consider doing a sequel with the same characters (Merry and Jack) being center stage? I'd love to read about a happily married couple that goes through a few hardships but is still loving and interesting. Usually this isn't done.

Eloisa James Hi there, Laural! I'm so glad you loved My American Duchess! Merry and Jack are very dear to me too. I wrote the book living in England, so there are a lot of personal feelings in it. I hate to disappoint you, but I can't see myself writing a book about Merry and Jack. It's not that marriage isn't interesting (I've done a bunch of bad-marriage books), but that I love my characters. I hate to think of them going through hardships -- one reason why I generally give them children at the end. I want to show that my heroines beat the odds as far as child-birth at the time! To write a novel like that, I'd need a very serious problem--infidelity or alcoholism, for example. Nooooo! Merry & Jack would never, ever do that!! big hug to you, and thanks for reading my books ~ Eloisa
