It is technically an adult-level book, but a smart kid would be able to read this. There is a lot of mathematical jargon early on, but none of it is necessary for the plot.

Content-wise, there's nothing adult or gruesome. Very little violence or action.
Lance Shadow
definitely more adult. YA can probably pick up the vocabulary just fine, but the content and the pacing is not your typical shoot em up star wars tale with lightsabers and x-wings.
