Goodreads asked Zach Larson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Zach Larson "Writer's block" to me means that I don't know the specifics of my scene/ story/ character. I have found that the more specific I get, the more I have to talk about. For example, it is much more difficult to explain the body as a whole than it is to focus on, say, the eyes. You could find better wording and more interesting facts about the science and biology of the eyes than you could about the body as a general idea. Convert that theory into the terms of a story and you might have something like: describe one naval altercation rather than an entire voyage.
