Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
I have been interested in the topic of "betrayal" for many years. It's a topic I am very comfortable discussing. My new book is the 4th book I've written on "betrayal"; however, I have been thinking about this project for about 5 years. Although I have a loving, caring, close and respectful relationship with my daughter, I was not fortunate to have that kind of relationship with my own mother. It has been a very painful part of my life. Over the years, I wondered if other daughters and sons felt the same way. We don't talk about this subject. It is difficult, complex, and sensitive. I want to change that and open up a healing conversation around our "mothers" who were unwilling, unable, or incapable of not "showing up" for us in the ways we needed. Most importantly, I want to share how it is possible to heal....to move from brokenness to wholeness.
