Goodreads asked Freida Goodman Fail:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Freida Goodman Fail We all have so many distractions and their attendant responsibilities(jobs, family, friends, etc.) that it is difficult to carve out quiet time to let our minds wander. It is in the quiet times that the miraculous occurs: an idea for a book, how to connect seemingly disparate elements, the name for the book, and millions of thoughts and ideas. I am not talking about formal meditation, I am talking about taking time to day dream. Write down the thoughts that come to you and tuck them away somewhere in a file and you'll be surprised at how things will come together in time. Things are always "bubbling" in the the background, day dream more.
