I've long been aware of the difference between justice under the law and fairness in a specific instance. Lady Justice is blind so she relies upon her human practitioners - judges, lawyers and cops - to deliver a good result in a specific circumstance. When they get it wrong, everyone is defiled. I used divorce as the example because it is a common experience for many people.
